He can give them some sort of legal status without citizenship like work visas or citizenship as long as he comes up with a policy that incorporates parts of 1. secures the border (Amnesty is pointless to even discuss until that happens) 2. Levels the playing field for employees. No more under the table pay for illegals, verification, taxes, etc. Punish employers who knowingly hire illegals. 3. Impose an evaluation period where illegals apply. Use his upcoming extreme vetting process to evaluate if they should be deported. If not give them a probationary time period to become citizens where they have to meet conditions. 4. No government benefits for the probationary time period even after they are citizens. We don't want a bunch of them getting citizenship to just become welfare rats. 5. They must denounce citizenship to all other countries upon becoming a citizen I would give work visas, make sure they pay taxes and deny government benefits. If the states want to give state benefits to non citizens, that is their deal. The illegals still have to meet standards for the visas. If they are one of the bastards that stole a social security number strip them naked and toss them out on the border. |
