the u.s. is a freaking bananna republic now
The Obama administration said Wednesday it paid $1.3 billion in interest to Iran in January to resolve a decades-old dispute over an undelivered military sale, two days after allowing $400 million in cash to fly to Tehran. State Department spokeswoman Elizabeth Trudeau says the U.S. couldn’t say more about the Jan. 19 payments because of diplomatic sensitivities. They involved 13 separate payments of $99,999,999.99 and final payment of about $10 million. There was no explanation for the Treasury Department keeping the individual transactions under $100 million. View Quote http://www.cbsnews.com/news/u-s-paid-1-3-billion-to-iran-two-days-after-cash-delivery/ remember - obama said that paper money had to be sent to iran, because there were no financial mechanisms to send money to iran and fox news is saying that this money came from a special pool of money, so congress didn't have to approve the transfer |

And those payments were made by wire transfers ....
But, but, but FBHO said that because of sanctions there was no way to settle up with Iran but to use cash (2 days earlier ) |

After the muzzies took over, Carter halted deliveries. The $400M was a refund for that. They should have taken it all back as damages and penalties for violating our embassy and holding diplomatic personnel hostage. |

bump cuz I thought this is something people should be interested in.
when iran gets a nuke, obama's legacy will be the the areas of the middle east that get glassed. |

And let's not forget [span style='font-size: 14pt;']it's our fucking money!!![/span] from wiki: Iran's assets were first frozen by U.S. president Jimmy Carter in 1979, after revolutionaries overthrew the U.S.-allied Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi's administration and took American hostages. Many of the assets were then unfrozen in 1981 after the Algiers Accords were signed and the hostage crisis ended. At the time of the 1979 revolution, the Pentagon re-sold some $400 million in Iranian military equipment already paid for by the deposed government, and the money was "placed in an escrow account".[ |

Yep, the 4 Kidd Class DD's were actually upgraded multi purpose Spru cans (with great A/C) built for Iran...then we kept 'em... Fuck Iran, we shouldn't have paid them a dime... |

No, no.
No. We would never do that. Never, I say. Besides, we have no banking relationship with Iran, that's why we had to send them a pallet of cash on an airplane. We couldn't wire the money. Not possible. Until a few days later, when we wired them the $1.3 billion. Because then, it was OK. |
