I shot my first Glock in 1989. Dad was one of the first cops in South Florida in the mid 80s to get one. It was a Gen 1 G17. My first Glock I got myself was a G23C during the AWB. That was back around mid 2000 I think. Got it with five pre ban mags, two LE only mags on letter head, and three 10rd mags.

I can say this. Back in 89, I was amazed at how light it weighed compared to the Beretta 92S and S&W 19 he carried around.

First Glock I shot was a G22 in '95. Bought a G19 that same year.

I bought one because Midway USA was having a killer deal on 33rd magazines.  I bought the magazines first, then the G17

I bought my first one, a 19, in approx. 1993...at Wal-Mart

Don't remember when I first shot one, that might have been the first one I fired.

I think it was 1986. One of the very first G17 Gen 1s in America. As part of a photo shoot for US News & World Report during the first "plastic gun" meltdown in Congress.

I probably first shot one in the late 90's.  Finally could afford to buy one in 2001.

Plastic Perfection

SOF Expert Gives Glock-17 Great Grades

The best pistol will not win the current XM9 (Personal Defense Weapon PDW) trials. The finest military pistol in the world today, in my opinion, is not entered in the XM9 tests.

I bought my Glock 17 sometime shortly after reading this.

I'm easily led.

Took it to a range and shot it the day I bought it at a gun show, that was the first time I shot a Glock.

Anyone remember the Bill Goodman shows at the light guard armory in Detroit?

ETA My first Glock is pictured in Ayoob's book 'The Semiautomatic Pistol In Police Service And Self Defense'.

I was taking a class at LFI in New Hampshire and I was the only one there with a Glock.  He need a picture and he borrowed mine.

I'm in the book too, I'm pictured shooting my Glock next to an older guy with a revolver.

I started shooting IPSC with a Glock and I was the only Glock shooter for quite a while.

Boy, did the 1911 guys piss and moan about the 17 round mags!

2004 I first shot one.

2005 I bought one.

I turned 21 in 2004 and my first handgun was a S&W Sigma that I got from a friend for a good price.  I quickly dumped that after shooting my first Glock.  Never looked back.

G27. 2013ish. I wanted something bigger than 9mm and I ended up with that.  Sold it soon after. I've owned multiple Glock 27's and nothing else by them.

In 2011, I found a barely used G17 RTF with gills at a pawn shop.  I  traded a Yugoslavia SKS for it.  I shot it that day.

Kinda reverse order, but it is still my favorite pistol.

Walked in gun store when I turned 21 and bought a G19.

Never shot a Glock and did no research. Still my favorite pistol all these years later.

Remember them quite well.  Those were good days.

Got mine in 86 or 87, can't remember exactly.

2005.  Bought one without shooting it.  A gen 2 23.  It was a good gun and I miss it.

I bought mine when I got my CCW, 10, 15 years ago, don't remember now. It's a Gen 3, and was almost new.

I chose Glock as my carry gun after months of diving deep into Handgun forums where I learned that while there  are many complaints about Glocks, "My Glock jammed" and "My Glock failed to fire" are not among them.

And I want  Carry gun that is ultimately simple to use, no safety to bumble or forget.

First one I fired was when I took it to the range.

I've never shot a Glock, nor do I have any interest in owning one. I'm basically a 1911 guy. If I have to settle for a 9 mm, I'll go with a Beretta 92 or a Walther P1.

1995, bought a G17. Sold it two months later after being severely dissapointed with it and bought an HK USP. Still have the USP although I've evolved into strikers with the VP9 now that there is one finally worth carrying and shooting.

G19, 1989. Friend was a kitchen table dealer and knew I was into
techy stuff and wanted to get me into shooting and suggested it. I ended up
buying one a while later -- I think the date code is a '91 but most of the serial
number lookups online don't have my starting letters. It was my first gun, still have it.

1990. Sold 2 to my neighbor 8 or 9 years ago, I am trying to convince him to sell them back to me at today's market price. I don't think they have been outside his home since.

1987.

Lt. Kusaie our PC, was a gunqueer, and snagged a G-17 at first opportunity.
Of course we had to Fam fire the the thing.

It took me until 2000, when I was issued one, before I bought one.

I think I shot my first Glock 17 when I was  around 16-17 years old so it's probably something like 1987-88 maybe? But I did not buy one until I was in college a few years later probably at age 21 or 22 when I picked up a Glock 19 for the first time
