....to be a US citizen (of legal age) and have a government issued ID.
Agree or disagree? |

And be of 'legal' age.
ETA. I think I like emancipated adult better. Solves some mental competency issues. |
|
|
and be male
I would say being in the .mil would work, but they shouldn't be doing that either |
|
I believe in a poll tax. Something like 200 bucks to vote, just like it's 200 to get a tax stamp. One of the only taxes I'm for.
|

Fuck no, it should be hard as fuck to vote. FAR too many shitbags just want to vote themselves free shit.
|

And having been either an honorably discharged veteran, or a tax payer for the last 5 consecutive years.
That would fix everything wrong with this country IMO. |

We didn't start down this progressive socialist rabbit hole until women were allowed suffrage. Just sayin'.

Citizen, land owning, age of 25+ with no criminal record. Must not have received any welfare within the past 10 years. ID and background check required st the polling booth. Any attempts at voting without meeting the above is a minimum of 20 years in prison.

The same as exercising your 2nd amendment rights. Not the same AT ALL. The power to vote is the power to destroy. I see what you're saying, and mostly agree, but the power to destroy is the power to destroy, nothing beats naked force. |

If we're going to put additional conditions on the right to vote, the most rational one would be an educational requirement: a 4-year college degree or equivalent.
But in general, I'm in favor of as wide a franchise as possible. It gives people a sense of participation, and a stake in what's going on. In a democracy, the extremists and the ignorant ones tend to cancel each other out. |

He/she should also be a resident of and registered in the state in which they vote.
|

Have a valid ID proving that you are a U.S. citizen, is all that I really want. Some of these ideas sound OK, but I would really like to see the numbers. Thousands of urban dwellers who own lofts could handily cancel out a lot rural land owners. None of this will ever happen, but it could be a dangerous game if these fantasies were reality. |

In before the "there is no right to vote in the constitution" crowd.

No. Having a job and paying taxes would suffice. Some sort of basic literacy test would be fine, administered prior to the election. |

I'm fine with being a US citizen with proper ID, gainfully employed taxpayer. I don't think owning land should be a requirement. I don't think the voting age needs to be raised. I'm still okay with felons not being able to vote. |

Land ownership and a basic exam to prove literacy and understanding of government functions.
|

No early voting or absentee bullshit, except military and a few others out of the country, and some sort of valid ID.

Agree, but I'd raise the voting age to 30 unless you have an active duty military ID card.
