I believe in a poll tax. Something like 200 bucks to vote, just like it's 200 to get a tax stamp. One of the only taxes I'm for.

And having been either an honorably discharged veteran, or a tax payer for the last 5 consecutive years.

That would fix everything wrong with this country IMO.

I see what you're saying, and mostly agree, but the power to destroy is the power to destroy,  nothing beats naked force.

LOL, so I work for 25 years and suffer an injury rendering me incapable of working and paying income tax, and I'm ineligible to vote?

If we're going to put additional conditions on the right to vote, the most rational one would be an educational requirement: a 4-year college degree or equivalent.

But in general, I'm in favor of as wide a franchise as possible. It gives people a sense of participation, and a stake in what's going on. In a democracy, the extremists and the ignorant ones tend to cancel each other out.

Have a valid ID proving that you are a U.S. citizen, is all that I really want.

Some of these ideas sound OK, but I would really like to see the numbers.

Thousands of urban dwellers who own lofts could handily cancel out a lot rural land owners.

None of this will ever happen, but it could be a dangerous game if these fantasies were reality.

Great another reason to force people into expensive, useless college degrees.

No.  Having a job and paying taxes would suffice. Some sort of basic literacy test would be fine, administered prior to the election.

Piss on that. I'm fine with being a US citizen with proper ID, gainfully employed taxpayer. I don't think owning land should be a requirement. I don't think the voting age needs to be raised. I'm still okay with felons not being able to vote.

Does it?  Y'all might want to look up when women got the vote versus when people like Woodrow Wilson got elected.

Agree, but I'd raise the voting age to 30 unless you have an active duty military ID card.
