That's a shame. I would have actually gone to see a GOOD remake of The Rocketeer. They can take their SJW turd and flush it.

We could write a better premise for a reboot/sequel in 30 minutes.

I liked the original.
Nazi's, G-men, Weird hulking bad guy, Tommy gun action, MP 40 action, 1911 action, spys, gangsters, zepplins, a Gee Bee, planes, car chases, Howard Hughes, a rocket pack, hot girl and a fucking flying guy. What do you want??? Some artsey, fartsey, Brokeback Mountain or Gone With The Wind???? But a remake like that....... LOL......No....don't think I'd be interested. I'll stick to the original. |

Remaking classic Americana with new genders/races/LGBT is part of the oligarchs' plan to destroy classic American culture. White male European-descent characters are the source of all evil now

I like to think that Lana Kane from Archer will be the new Rocketeer.

Lol, they had to make the rocketeer a black woman. Sounds like another Ghostbusters, that will make even less money, because no one really gives a flying shit about The Rocketeer. I'll continue to not watch this, just like the upcoming "The Mummy" remake. View Quote I like the Rocketeer movie. Stuff like this just annoys me. Rocketeer isn't a bad movie... I think it is more a victim of that early 90s "neon retro" fad than anything else. It is so inoffensive and safe that it can hardly be called anything but a homage / family movie. You want bad in the same category? Dick Tracy. That movie was fucking garbage. View Quote I remember watching Dick Tracy in the theater. When Madonna came out I made the comment that you can tell how evil everyone is by how ugly they are. She's obviously the most evil of them all. Little did I know at the time. |

I came here to joke that it was going to be a black Hispanic woman I guess I wasn't far off.
fuck this social justice history rewriting bullshit |

One of my childhood favorites! Nevermind how dangerous it would be to mount a rocket to your back. I loved the movie as a kid.
ETA: I just read about casting a African American woman for the lead role. Seriously? I'm not watching a movie intentionally meant to be a social justice, "black power!", "girl power!" film. |

Wow! This movie sounds like a steaming pile of shit. No problem staying out of the theaters for another year. Thanks Mousechwitz! |

Is it going to be as fucking stupid as the original? Nope worse because it will be even more period incorrect. Actually the period of the 1930s for the first movie was fairly well a period correct piece. The 1930s being a time where the novelty of flight still existed made the original film work as well as it did. And there were still larger than life figures in the fledgling aerospace industry, like Howard Hughes, to base characters on. I think the original Rocketeer wasn't well done, but the potential was there for it to capture the viewer and take them back to the pre-WWII period as well as Raider of the Lost Ark. Too bad Disney didn't do that. But a new Rocketeer set in the Cold War 1950s makes me think of a storyline like the one that made the last Indiana Jones movie work so well. |
|
The 1990 film was pretty uneven. It has moments of good, but I remember a lot of stuff that wasn't where it needed to be.
An SJWed version is gonna suck, and fail at the box office.

Why don't we just remake EVERY film in history and replace all of the white leads with black main characters. Would that be enough virtue signalling from hollywood? Seriously, FUCK. YOU. DISNEY. View Quote Black, LGBT etc. Throw in some pop culture references, elude to saving the environment, perhaps a stab at a conservative politician or viewpoint and there ya have it. The modern "reboot". Kinda funny to me how many people over say about 25 or so don't even bother going to the movies anymore. They either steal/watch it on the interewebs or just watch classic movies on Netflix. |

A black female pilot becomes The Rocketeer...I mean, we're already talking about flying jetpack crime-fighters here I guess, buuuuut... The new take keeps the story in a period setting and offers a fresh view on the characters. Set six years after the original Rocketeer and after Secord has vanished while fighting the Nazis, an unlikely new hero emerges: a young African–American female pilot, who takes up the mantle of Rocketeer in an attempt to stop an ambitious and corrupt rocket scientist from stealing jet-pack technology in what could prove to be a turning point in the Cold War. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/rocketeer-disney-movie-reboot-works-915037 Quoted: I actually came here to make a snarky comment akin to "Watch them make him a black female" and ....
