page 2 says I own 2 of each for AK's and AR's.

During the AWB, I wished I had one, but they were so incredibly expensive.

Now that the ban has ended, prices have come down, new models have been created, and I've bought...none.  Oh well.

As many as you can afford!

Is there a G21 C-Mag yet?

Used to have a couple Beta Mags.  Don't like them.  I own none now and have no plans to buy any.

I really want a DMAG, but not until they come wayyyyyyyyy down in price.

Only times I have used them where on convoys.

Other then convoys and static security I wouldn't want to carry them.

Someone moved the tooling for the chinese drum mags to another country so they could be manufactured and imported again.

I had some drums way back when and sold em during one of the price run ups.  They were and are a range toy to me.

When I heard someone moved the tooling so they could be imported again I looked at em.

Bought one or more last year during the black friday sales and will do so again this year.

Right now I recall an email I deleted where they only want 60 bucks for a 75 rd ak drum like what I am talking about above.

I never owned the drum where you had to load it from the top.  Always had the open back drums and like being able to load em and leave em til I want to use em.

Simply to reward whoever moved the tooling so they could once again be imported, I would own one.

Simply because I laugh when someone asks about why I need a 30 rd mag and I wonder if their head would explode if I showed em a drum.

Simply because I can currently do so and I expect a time to come where prices might go up again.  A lot.

Don't know if I would sell again.

I did not expect to be able to replace the ones I sold last time.

I kind of want an ar drum, but have not really gotten around to spending the money on one yet.

Do PS90 mags count as drums?
If yes, about 20 then.

I always wanted them, but I never could get over paying the cost half a dozen 30 round magazines for a 60, 75, or 100 round drum. You lose or break a 30, some regret, do that will a drum and you will want to kick the dog.

If I had an AK(I want one but can't find the one I want)  and I was going to get an ungodly heavy mag, I'd get one of the extended "standard" mags*75-100 rounds) just because nobody has one. Unreliable, sure, but that's the reputation of drums too, deserved or not. Plus, I'd have something slightly unusual.

ETA-the drum I DO want, however, is the Promag drum for a 1911. Then add it to a Hi-Point carbine modded for 1911 mags, just to see if I can get it to work.

I have a P60 magazine. So far it's been super reliable - but a bitch to load. I'll probably buy 1-2 more. One as a spare and one to sell during the next panic.

If I ever win the lottery or the NFA gets repealed, I'm converting a 1911 to FA. It'll have a detachable stock, a forward grip, and a drum mag - something like Dillinger's, but with more thrusts per squeeze:

none. I prefer box mags -- easier to carry. For the space and volume taken, the box mags are close enough.

They are cool but I want or need none..they are heavy when loaded and awkward in the gun. If I had a full auto with a bipod and needed the firepower that would be different. I have no issues with ownership of them buy what you want and enjoy. Just not my cup of tea.

Had a Beta C-mag for a while. Fun the first time, heavy and tedious to reload after that. I have an AK drum that I haven't shot yet. Gonna do a mag dump out of my Draco SBR next time I go shooting

They're impractical in my experience - though I've not tried the newer polymer ones. I have a half dozen Yugo 75-round drums, and they're too heavy for normal use, and the jam a lot. One of them seems to seat properly put ejects itself about one round out of three.

Three for the AKs (two read load Romanian, one top load Romanian) and three for the Saiga 12 (two MD Arms 20 rounders and a 12 round Promag).

Got a Magpul D60. Works fine, don't really use it as much as I do the 40 rounders I've got taped together.

Romy 75 round drum worked just fine, but it's a heavy bastard. Good for sitting in one spot, waiting for the furry little fuckers that've been getting into my garden and trashcans.

I only got a few.

One Chinese AK drum.

Two pre-ban beta C mags that I've never used, but I'm too lazy to sell them.

One Taylor 1911 drum because I want to do something fun with it someday.

At least one for each type of gun (AK and AR). I have a chi-com style romanian for my AKs and a Beta mag for my ARs. I disagree with everyone talking about them being "impractical", there's few better ways to flip the double bird to the Feinstein types than drum mag dumps. Smells like....freedom!

Meh.

Because I can, it pisses gun grabbers off, and it could be a useful tool for an extended stand off during a prolonged home invasion or when you're traveling and don't want to grab a shitload of mags if it's SHTF and you don't have the time to grab things at your convience from the back or trunk. To each their own, impractical to the nay sayers is looking practical to me for the above stated reasons.

Those are rare.  When and where did you get them?

I like love drum mags.  I have some Chinese and Romanian including top and rear-loading.

If there is another AWB, prices will go through the roof on them.

None.

Ask me the same question after the ban though and Ill bet ill want the fuck out of what I cant have.

Seriously though, I did wonder about a D60 for my patrol rifle.  First mag if I have to jump out and scoot.  If it looks like Ill be going far or long I could dump it for a few 30s?

Drum mags are practical for SMGs but not realistic for ARs & AKs.  I think it's more of a "Look at Me" but most serious shooters avoid.

Sure, drum mags are expensive and in certain desert and mud combat situations they are a complete fail, but I do find it interesting how the USMC moved away from the M249 SAW and adapted the IAR M27 requiring the operator to carry up to 27 or so USGI 30rd mags. Sometime in 2012 they banned the use of Pmags until Magpul released the gen M3 Pmag. I also find it interesting they are testing the Magpul D60. While I do a have few drum mags (Beta C AR and Chinese AK), they just sit in my safe. I do plan on getting a D60 despite the $125 price. Either way, taster’s choice.

I have decided that I really want a magpul drum mag.  Would be perfect for an HD gun so that I don't have to worry about spare ammo.

So my answer... as many as you want and can afford, but at least one.

Hmm, let's see.

Pmag 40rd  is ~$17.

D60 is $120.

so it costs me ~$103 for 20 rounds?  nope.

I'd pay $60 for one, but thats about it.

I would be interested in a D100 for 100.
