Things are not going well for relegated friends.
Newcastle lost their Championship opener to Fulham who finished 20th of 24 last season. Villa, after also losing their opener, was eliminated by League 2 side Luton Town in the League Cup first round. http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/match-reports/luton-town-3-aston-villa-11733329.
