I baked a video card in the oven and got good results. Saved a couple hundred bucks at the time.

Crap solder jobs on certain motherboards mean that eventually thermal expansion breaks the connection to some ball grid array (BGA) chips. You can reflow the solder by reheating it in an oven, but you need to remove the board from the case first.

This is also a common affliction on Chevrolet Silverado instrument clusters. I had to remove mine this spring and resolder all the joints on the back of it.
