Just curious.
Those who lost all of their ammo and guns in a horrible boating accident are welcome to sit this one out. ETA: If you vote in the poll, bump the thread. |

Way over a 100K, 30 years in the Army, hunting since I was 8, just popped off about 500 today, way over a 100K
Why do dumb ass questions like this keep getting asked? |
Rounds fired is just like net worth.
It goes up as you get older. Then, after a point, the process slows down. |
Rifle and pistol? Maybe 4-5k. I haven't been seriously into shooting and firearms but for about 3 years, when I bought my first AR.
I shot 18000 in 2015. Will likely break 20,000 this year.
Before I got my Dillon, I was shooting 5 to 10,000 per year. I think I'm just shy of 100k. I know several people who shoot over 50,000 per year. |
Was a 60 Gunner in the Army, plenty of 5K in a day events. Hell, I once shot 300 rounds of .303 British from an Enfield in a single day (might not sound impressive, but give it a try, tell me how your shoulder holds up, those old timers had tough shoulders).

Well north of 100,000. I used to shoot 30-35k a year of just handgun ammo when I shot competitively. No idea what my yearly total would be if I included shotgun and rifle.
I've been actively shooting for about 20 years. |
Over 100K, been shooting for 40 years now. Ripped off 300 this past Monday afternoon.
3 times a week for the last 30 years.......OP needs to alter the poll choices......100,000 - child please!
Once I add in the trap shooting of my youth it's easy to go over 100k.
Probably between 5,000 and 10,000. I didn't really grow up around guns, so I didn't buy my first one until 2010. I've been stocking up ever since! Luckily my wife couldn't care less what I buy or how much I spend, so I sort of hit the jackpot there.
Well I have been shooting since I was 5 I'm 38 now so a quick run of some numbers and the answer is hell if I know
At my peak I was around 1,000 pistol (the vast majority 40 S&W) and 1,000 rifle (mostly 5.56) per month, +/- 250 each depending. That was a few years ago.
Over my lifetime, I'll be conservative and say 60,000 rounds. |
While I'd been shooting before (estimated 8000-9000 rounds), I started a log of my shooting in mid-2007 that has a tally of 51,528 rounds through last Saturday.
Definitely in the over 100k club. I was shooting around 2500 in a single range trip. Usually twice a week. I've shot out two AR barrels and a 1911 barrel.
I used to shoot tournament trap and three gun so I have put a few rounds down range. How many I do not know.
Easily over 100,000. As an instructor / trainer I shoot 1000 a week of 556/9mm
Fuck, I don't know. I've shot over 5k since moving to Iowa 4 years ago, and I shoot a lot less now than I did when I lived in Kansas.
I used to go through a ton of rimfire, and these days it's still the vast bulk of what I shoot. Excluding that brings my count down a fair amount.

50,000 Registered ATA Trap targets
at least 200,000 practice trap, skeet and sporting clays targets Shot out 4 varmint rifle barrels, a minimum of 2,500 rounds of Varmint Ammo per year in 20 years of Prairie Dog shooting....(50,000 rounds minimum) everything else......probably another 200,000 rounds of handgun ammo in the last 40 years. I help keep Dillon in business ........ Without a doubt at least 500,000 rounds. |
Including shotgun shells I'm way over 100K, I used to shoot a bunch of skeet and sporting clays. I'm over 15K with one of my 1911s. I wish I knew how many rounds I have fired and how much I have spent on said rounds.
I have emptied many clips in my lifetime. Too many to count.

View Quote ... is that the infamous "Prancerciser" woman? Awesome, if so - God bless her |
The Army gave me an M-60 machine gun and sent me to the range on taxpayer money , I have shot a lot of other belt feds as well as my own stuff . I had a few years many years ago where I shot a lot of pistol matches

Over 50,000 but I worked in the industry both in r&d and testing evaluations...
Doing an honest recount it has to be over 100,000 36 years with easily 5000 rounds a year not counting 22lr.... |
Of my own? 50k. On the Uncle's dime? WAY more than 100k. In addition to the heavy wartime work ups for my infantry battalion, I did a test for a thermal night sight for the DOD which involved shooting hundreds of magazines a night for 2.5 weeks. I completely shot out the barrel on my first M16.
