There are several guilty parties here. The idiot himself is the major one. However, who are these bosses that know and respect you and haven't either brought this to your attention or worked to get this guy in line? How does he unilaterally ruin your relationship with an important mentor. Either your mentor was never terribly thrilled with you, he actually believes a bunch of wild tales from a new trouble maker, or there is more to this story and you've already done something that gives him pause.
Makes me wonder if he's spreading as much shit as you suspect. Are you a little paranoid and/or have a history of overreacting? |

If he is your director, then he isn't your colleague, he your boss. Why are you calling your boss out?

I would pay money to hear his side.
You say he takes things personally when he shouldnt but go on to trash his personal life and character traits. I'm not saying thats bad but dont act high and mighty then bring his family into it. If you want to get dirty then get dirty. Dont claim to be a professional. Make it hurt. Its like this gen x bitch boy stuff where you "accidentally" put it in your girlfriends ass. Be a man and tell her you want shit on your dick. Dont beat around the bush. What you really want to do is plant some meth on his person, then turn him in to get him fired. Sounds like a weasel. I can think of one at my work too.
In fact, the one at my work was got so bad that me and another colleague had a sit down with our boss and laid it on the line for him, and also requested the weasel be moved to a different department.
