I need a WW2 bolt action. I'm leaning toward an early war Mauser 8X57 or a nice Lee-Enfield.
I need a Ruger #1 in .223 for exploding varmints and such. I need a Lever gun. Maybe a Marlin .35 or a Henry Octagonal barrel in 45/70. I had a Marlin guide rifle. Damn! I need a 7.62 NATO semi or there such type rifle. I wouldnt mind finding a Dragunov. I'd like another Win M-70 Safari in either .416 or .458 LH just so it could look cool by my .375. Either that or a super light weight mountain rifle/scope combo in .300 WSM. On the 5th I cant make up my mind. |

The gun from Heat.
And 4 more that have the shoulder things that go up. |
|
Currently I need an M110, and a TRG-42.

Everyone really needs a suppressed 22lr. I've got lots of practical uses for mine.

Tops of my want list
Garand 30-30 Lever Action AR10 SCAR 17 Rem 700 |
|
If you only need 5 rifles, one of them has to be a classic .22LR.
But that's just, like, my opinion, man. |
|
Ruger 10/22
Savage 11 or 16 in .308 Marlin 336C in .30-30 14.5" BCM middy with TA31F Acog 10.5-11.5" SBR After reading some of the others I realized I completely forgot about a muzzle loader, would have to have one for the hell of it |
|
Tikka t3 lite 30.06
Marlin/Rossi lever in .44mag Galil ACE in 7.62x39 Yugo Mauser 8mm Swiss k31 |
|
My AK 47, 18" SPR, 30-06 Bolt, 12GA, 10/22.
Bout covers my needs |
|
You might consider an ar15, m1 Garand , and something in .22lr.
|
|
I've got the rifles well covered, I just need 5 top shelf optics. Thank God for relatively inexpensive optics like those from PA to get me by till I can fork up the cash for something nice.

8mm Mauser
M40 M14 AR15 Win 94 in 30-30 Surprisingly, I already have them. |
|
A nice double rifle. A Purdey would do nicely. Make it in 450NE.
A Marlin STP in 45-70 h&k 43 to replace the one I sold years ago. A Jeff Cooper Scout. Valmet. I don't know why but I've always lusted after one. |

If I had to write a list of rifles everyone needed it would be:
1. A good .22 rim fire - ideally it would be suppressed 2. A scoped center fire bolt action rifle in a common caliber (308, 30-06, 300 win mag, etc) 3. An AR15 - barrel length & stock choice left up to individual user 4. Iron sighted rifle (action type left up to user) because everyone should have & know how to use an iron sighted rifle 5. A loaner rifle - inexpensive rifle that you can loan to friends/family and if they break the stock, scratch it up, or just return it dirty you don't loose your shit. Then a safe full of rifles that you just want for the hell of it. |
|
1. Winchester Model 94
2. Tavor 3. Colt 901 4. LaRue PredatObr 5. 10/22 Take-Down |
|
10/22
M1 Garand Ar or Ak Bolt action in 308.270 or 30-06 lever action |
|
AR15 in configuration to the user's choice
15-22 or 10-22 supressed 308, 30.06 300 win mag etc bolt gun with scope You only have 3 real needs outside of a niche fun, such as big big game, big caliber, tack driver .22lr, historic guns, etc. Those three cover pretty much anything an average person would need to have a well rounded collection, and be able to hunt, plink, and defend. If I had to add a 4th and 5th, it would be a suppressed SBR AR-15 and a tack driver bolt .22lr |
|
1. Milsurp bolt action. Any of them will do, especially if you reload. My son has a Mosin and some Hornady 150gr soft points (.312 diameter) and will use it on some poor deer this fall.
2. Modern sporting rifle. AK, AR, Tavor, etc. Whichever fits your shoulder and your budget. They'll fend off the goblins and are a hoot at the range. They're pretty useful at small/medium game hunting too. 3. Primitive frontstuffer. For fun and for meat getting. In my state muzzle loader season gives more opportunity to hunt and can be every bit as good as the best slug guns. 4. .22 rifle. Any action type. It'll lower the cost of maintaining perishable marksmanship skills and can easily add meat to the freezer. 5. Modern bolt action with good scope, preferrably one that fires a military cartridge. A non-military cartridge that suits your need is good too, but a .308 or .300 Win Mag will kill just about anything in the lower 48 with good shot placement and the right projectile. A rifle chambered in .308 should never run out of ammo if you're even halfway paying attention to sales and can reload. That's my $0.02 anyhow. |

Besides what I have.
AR10 style rifle. Something in 338 Lapua semi auto if possible. Bullpup can't decide. 9mm PDW I'm working on now. Other than that I don't know. |

I don't really "need" any these days.
I could easily get by with a 22lr preferably suppressed and bolt gun in 308 / 30-06. Thankfully I don't have to settle for what I need. |

A raised carved and engraved Christian Springs 60 cal flintlock
A 2X16 Gauge over 7X57 Drilling An FN Mauser in 30 06 w 3X scope An M4 w Aimpoint A SAW |

Sorry to end this thread but here are the 5 guns (not just rifles) that everyone NEEDS: 1. Colt 6920 2. Remington 700 in .308 3. Ruger 10/22 4. Mossberg 590A1 ( Remington 870 if you must have a sg with out a bayonet lug) 5. Glock 19 or Colt 1911 These are the NEEDS. You can add a .22 pistol if you want. |
|
M-4
AK-47 Rem 700 (or any .308 bolt action) Mauser and a beltfed like M-60 or M-240 |
|
2 good ARs
1 10/22 1 bolt gun in a common centerfire caliber 1 large caliber magnum or equivalent. |
|
I'll amend my Mauser requirement to include a 6.5mm Swede. Boy if I could find one of those naval rifles in good condition...
|
|
.17 or .22 for pests/plinking
Shotgun for hunting w/shorter barrel conversion for HD AR in favored configuration Milsurp bolt action for the history AK with sidefolder or under folder. (Sometimes you just need an AK) Something old, (milsurp bolt action) something new, (AR/AK fighting rifle) something borrowed, (family/Inherited gun) something blue(ed). |
|
1. Something that would work as a fighting rifle if SHTF. Pick your caliber and platform, they all have their merits. Use what you'll be good with.
2. Something lightweight in .308 or larger, good for big game, easy to carry, enough to kill something big that wants to eat you. 3. Pick your caliber, a good, heavy barrel, accurate rifle for long distance work. 4. a rimfire for small game. Pick caliber, I'd normally say .22 but I can get .17WSM a lot easier right now. 5. A second fighting rifle in the same caliber and platform as +1, because if SHTF parts will be a bitch. Better to have a full parts set already assembled. |
|
Suppressed Ruger 10/22
M1 Carbine 16" AR-10 in .308 Suppressed SBR 10.5" AR in 5.56 Suppressed Pistol 10.5 AR in .300 BLK After that I'd go with a 9mm PCC with mags common to your pistol And then maybe a .38/.357 Lever gun suppressed And then something for long rang in one of the 6** calibers After that maybe a .50 cal, or one of the shorty trashcan guns |
|
Defensive AR
Varmint Rifle - AR #2
22lr - I'll keep my 541T 30-06 bolt gun - med/big game; Savage, Tikka. #5 would not be necessary to cover everything I use a rifle for now but I'll go with a 458 Winchester Model 70 in case I ever go after dangerous game. |
|
Only holes I'd like to fill are...
1. An Aero M5 build with a LaRue drop in Stealth 7.62 barrel. 2. Remmy 700 AAC in 308 with a Remage barrel I can put one of those MagPul Hunter stocks on because it looks like it'll be the Mondsy after never before MP makes one for Savage. 3. 10-22 heavy barrel in a MP Hunter stock as a trainer. 4. AR15 SBR in 556 with spare upper in 300Blk ( just have to get SBR stamp, got 3 pistols to draw uppers from 5. 30-30, never owned one...set up as a Scout. |
|
Semi auto, ar, ak, whatever.
.22lr of your choice. Something suitable for hunting in your area. That's it. |
|
I have pretty much all the rifles I want, except a nice Winchester model 70.
