Manon was my first Garand. You might even say that she was my first love. And with the rush to get out of town during the Fort McMurray fire, I left her behind.
I really thought that I had all the Garands, but poor Manon was left behind. As far as I know, my house still stands. But they bombed the town again and again with water bombers and perhaps my house is flooded. Perhaps Manon is rusted. Who knows? But here she is in all her former glory. I just hope she still looks like this: So wherever you are please have some good thoughts for Manon--BMR 9088,

Gorgeous babe.
I was just up in Ottawa last week, and it was really odd how people spoke about Ft. McMurray. The average guys around at the bar I was talking to after work who knew what it was like to have to do a bit of work all seemed very concerned, and to a man all knew someone or had family up there. The more upper crust City denizens I was interacting with during the day for the most part all seemed to have a dismissive "Yeah, I'd heard something about something going on up there..." attitude when I asked about it, but otherwise didn't seem to care. Hope you guys are doing well. |

As long as your roof is intact and the house isn't flooded she should be fine. Hopefully she's in a safe and dry place still, with all her lube intact.

But from information that we had from a certain heavy equipment operator, the RCMP were nowhere near the river at night. Thus a nighttime rubber boat landing had a chance at infiltrating a man into town. I knew just the man for the mission and he was determined to get to his house. The landing would have entailed navigating at night through all the smoke and under the risk of the fire itself. But with respirators and night vision equipment, he would probably have made it. |

Crabby works for the municipality so she was called back to work today. She was able to return to our house and it is in perfect condition. No water or smoke damage. Everything is fine. And Manon is fine too. |
