what bayonet do I need?

Bayonets won't work on a 16, you would need a 14.5".   There is too much barrel between the flash hider and the bayo lug.

Thank you for your help. How about OKC S3. http://www.amazon.com/Ontario-6504-OKC3S-Marine-Bayonet/dp/B000ET7E0Q  ?

I've seen some bayonets with extended handles to cover the extra inch and change.

You can also get one of these from http://www.triple-r-products.com for a non-permanent solution, that'll let you use any M-16 compatible bayonet

That and this adapter will work. Just going to look goofy. As stated above, you will need a 14.5" pinned or a mid-length.

So nobody is going to ask?

What gas system do you have; carbine or mid-length?

I have a 16" barrel with the mid-length hand guard/gas system and the M9 bayonet mounts properly without any kind of adapter.

I still haven't found a use for it (Phrobis) but it was issued to me when I was active duty, so I know it works.

Colt does not make a middy.
The OP clearly states he wants a bayonet for his 6920.

20" guns and bayonets go together like peanut butter and jelly.

You need an A4 and an OKC3S

Try THIS

You may have to use some shim arrangement but this will allow you to keep the blade in front of the FH where you want it to be to get the penetration.

Yes, bayonets are awkward but every tool in the box has a use at some point.

I sure as fuck do not want to get skewered with a nasty fucking C3S with a pissed off soldier on the other end.

I need to get a wife who won't beat me severely for burying a bayonet tip in the kitchen table, enough to hold up the rifle it's affixed to!

16" with a mid length gas system should work with a bayonet.

You tell her that if dinner was on the table like it's supposed to be, there wouldn't be room for a bayonet.

This is what happens when you put a bayonet on a 16" carbine with the original carbine gas system.

That's why someday I'll have a 14.5" barrel on my 6920 someday.

Doesn't work on an m4gery. Get a mid length upper. For more reasons than just a bayonet mount. 16 inch carbine gas with a 14.5 gas port size is just poor engineering.

Just use a good long fixed blade knife on your person.

Turning a rifle into a bladed weapon doesn't work very well.

Then what is the Commander supposed to yell instead of "FIX BAYONETS!!!!!"??? ............... "Get your butter knives ready." ????

Doesn't have quite the same effect.

Dianne Fienstein thinks I shouldn't even have the option of fixing bayonets.

That alone is enough reason for me to have bayonets.

-1 meat undercooked (missing altogether)
-1 no beverage
+1 rifle
-1 no reload
-1 no stapler

2/10 not bad for a first dinner pic. Now go kill and grill something and try again.
