There's a group of pictures online titled, Just Girly Things. You're run of the mill girl crap that young ones obsess over.

Well sometime decided to take those pics and make Just Soldier Things. Some of it will make you laugh, but a lot of it can make you wipe a tear off.

Today i was driving up I-81. For the first time ever, I saw people on a bridge waving flags to all of the people on the road down below. I never saw this before. For some reason, seeing that made me want to tear up. There is not a whole lot that will make me do that.

I saw lots of soldiers come through our clinic and held the hands of many who died. The hardest thing for me is not knowing their names and not being able to say farewell to them individually.

I spent the last week shooting rabbits at Lindis Downs in Otago, New Zealand. As prep for the job I was on google.
Turns out Lindsay James Phillips 2NZEF KIA 31 Jan 1945 came from Lindis downs.
I sleep in the woolshed he had no doubt spent a lot of time in,had a cup of tea in the kitchen he no doubt had breakfast in,
and walked over a lot of the ground he would have.

I have no connection to him or his family. But I was disappointed that I could find nothing further about him or how he died.

26 Battalion was not involved in any historic action on 31 jan 1945, just in the line in Italy. Nothing special going on, but a few days later his Mum
would have received the worst of all telegrams.
