When I took Mad Max in he looked like this. He was scared of being on a leash, riding in a car, coming in the house, climbing stairs and super duper dirty. He ate a ton, his Vet checkup was expensive (still is) and he shed hair everywhere(still does) But God he is my favorite person in the world. His first Birthday Last year when it snowed in Abilene and i was there for work. Our I am Legend pic Mad Max with my sister dog thats not with us anymore. Mad Max doing what he loves best Him when he is busted doing something he shouldnt be doing him with his goggles Here is him from our first camping trip yesterday which he made it through like a champ. I love my boy, that is all i wanted to share with ya'll today. |

There are very few things in life as rewarding as loyalty shared between a man and a dog.
Congrats on discovering that, and thanks for taking care of him. |

Good on you man. Dogs are better than 99.9% of people. We really don't deserve them. My oldest. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d50/tmann199030/Mobile%20Uploads/20140701_194727_RichtoneHDR_zps7de49ucq.jpg The new addition. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d50/tmann199030/20160415_130822_zpsxkrqy9ch.jpg The whole crew. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d50/tmann199030/20160419_131003_zpsohehpanx.jpg View Quote Those are some beautiful pups there. |

Nice pictorial and good on you, the best dog I ever was blessed with owning was a Dobie.

Good job. Looks like Mad Max will be a wonderful and normal dog.
My dogs were also abused animals though I didn't know it when I adopted them. Their previous owner was a white male (that's why they're scared of unfamilar white males) who shot them with a pellet gun (learned they were afraid of long guns and they shied away if I picked up one) and after the vet x-rayed the male and found three pellets in him. They were very afraid of being hit when dragged by the collar (first time I hauled each of them they whimpered and now they're not scared if I do it today), The dogs have run off to play somewhere but they always come home in time for dinner. They're much happier but I think it will take yeas for the female to be normal (the vet says the male has cancer and won't have long to live). |

Great looking pup OP. When you first got him, was he abused or used for fighting? Apologies if you mentioned it and I skipped over it. Here's my two http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee456/stlfiveoh/E03839BE-1FB3-4C46-BF07-4F0C601410B5.jpg View Quote No problem, it was in the original thread i linked. The place he was at before, the other dogs were beating on him very badly so they brought him over to the house because he couldn't stay there any longer because the other dogs would attack him. The owner himself is not that caring either for the dogs. You got some good looking dogs. |

I ain't afraid to admit I'm tearing up.
There are some things that no man should be ashamed to admit move him to tears. Good on you, OP, and good on Max, too. |

View Quote I get a little choked up myself when i think back over these past 16 months, how different it is with this guy in my life. I honestly never wanted a dog, with the way my work was and how i traveled a lot, i just thought that i couldn't make room in my life for another life. But when they brought Max over and i cleaned up his wounds and took him a bath a spent those days with him, i couldn't let him go. Now i find ways to make it work with me and Max, he comes with me everywhere, wherever i travel to and wherever i go. |
