Focus ST, Fiesta ST, or something else?????
Looking for a small fun to drive car. Is there anything else I should be looking at? Single, no kids so size isn't really an issue. |
|
I absolutely love my fiesta. I modded the shit out of it and fried the pistons, so now I'm doing a rebuild. 300 wheel in a 2720 pound car? Yes please! I miss it driving it so much, every single day brings a huge smile to my face, it's an absolute enthusiasts car through and through.

The Fiesta ST is hysterically fun. There's also the new focus RS which has cool features.
And I see the trailer park contingent have already chimed in. Yeah OP, get a camaro and some oxycontins. You'll be on your way to blue collar royalty in no time. |

Find someone with a mk7 golf r, with a tune on it. Go for a ride in it.

Subaru WRX. Bigger than both, not a shoebox, and most importantly.... Not wrong wheel drive. It handles better too.

I'd go with the Fiesta over the focus, everything I've read about it is good, it has a more playful nature than the focus and isn't as fat as it. I'd personally go with a GTI over both of them. I have a Mk 7 R and love it, so if I were buying a car with your budget I'd go with a GTI.

I got my loaded 2014 Focus ST for 24,990 thanks to Costco and rebates. Love this car.

You really cannot lose between the two. If you look around you can get them much cheaper than a GTI or WRX, I paid $21.5k for mine. View Quote There is a new one in the driveway just down the street, unfortunately it's a burned up mess as it caught on fire and roached the entire front end. Still a purdy blue in the back though.................. |

I test drove a Focus ST and loved it. Fun to dive and sounded good too. The Focus ST forums show a loyal following. If I were in your shoes I would consider the Focus ST for the low $20's OTD. Check your insurance rates before signing no matter what you want to buy....some insurance companies may not be friendly.

New Focus RS. Although I like the lines of the smaller Fiesta too.

I know it's above the price range, but so is the wrx, focus RS, and the evo.
GOLF R-----> a $500 tune gets a 0-60 under 4 seconds. On the VW forum I'm on a stage 2 is getting consistent 11.5 quarter mile times. You'll outrun most everything on the road. Subaru quality has went to shit. I see just as many parked with a blown engine as I do on the road. The evo is no longer made. The build quality on the focus RS just isn't there either. |
|
I have a Fiesta ST.
Absolutely love it. Much more aftermarket support for the Fiesta than the Focus. |

If you want a turbo 4cyl.
99 Eclipse GSX Evolution IX 95 Turbo MR2 If you want something newer, used low mileage Mustang GT, so long as it has the Coyote engine. |

ARFcom,
Which miniature station wagon should I buy? Is it okay if it looks like a Prius or an Aztek? |

Long story short, bad tune. The car was heavily modified and I failed to take into account some things and boom. My fault but hey live and learn. |

I've read about dealers charging $5k+ premiums for them, limited production= limited supply and dealers are taking advantage of it |

The Evo reply: I want a car that is still going to be made in 5 years. Not a discontinued model.
Golf R reply: $11,000 more for a car that will probably, again, be out for a short run then back to mothballs. 11k buys an STI with some room for mods. |
|
I got my Fiesta for zero down zero percent. In other words they gave me a free car. $22,000/72 = $305 a month, which comes out to $10.04 a day to drive a brand new 2015 model car. I spend more on food and random bullshit than I do for a brand new model year car.
So naturally I modded the shit out of it but that's not the point. The point is that this option, a new "economic" car that dealers are giving away is by and far the cheapest, in real and nominal terms due to the zero percent and extremely long financing period, and zero down payment. Then you do the extended warranty trick and get the dealer to finance the first 6 month of you payments for free aka you make no payments after your first one for six months, then you start paying like normal but for 66 months instead. |
