The 1970 Chilean election was won with 36.6% of the vote going to Allende.
Rodriguez and Tomic had 35.3% and 28.1%.
The Chilean coup d'état happened 3 years later...

Just some history for those who forgot.

Chile is my favorite place to visit in Latin America. Santiago is spotless, modern and awesome and the food wine and women are fantastic.  I'm also a big Pinochet fan.....

Edit to add that I have traveled extensively throughout central and South America.
