Uncorroborated, but it wouldn't surprise me if he re-enters the ring.

How many "blue dogs" are there left? I can see more disgruntled Rs voting for him than Ds.

When I was quite a bit younger I thought I was a "Blue Dog Democrat." I've never thought I was Republican though, but I've voted for them mostly. I must be a moderate.

I would appreciate it if Webb stayed out of the race.  He'll hurt Republicans more than Democrats I suspect.

I'm terrified of a Webb third party run.  Webb has the chance to completely ruin our chances.

The only reason for Webb to do that would be to keep moderates who are scared of Hillary or Sanders from voting for Republicans.  Further, Webb knows that.  So a third party run by Webb is essentially a conscious decision on his part to try and elect a Sanders or Clinton type and his character should be judged accordingly.  That's the problem with Blue Dogs - if their own party doesn't put them down first, they end up biting the people who elected them at the behest of their Commie masters.

ETA:  I should also add that to get on the ballot for all 50 states as a third party this late in the game would require someone with big, big money to sponsor Webb.  He would need a pretty aggressive ground game if he plans a third party run,

This is why he is doing it,as I said above he has no support amongst Ds and will simply take protest votes from Rs who refuse to vote for Trump. He wants to play the part of spoiler, like Perot.

If I were Bloomberg, I'd consider sponsoring Webb after looking at whether the market research shows what kind of vote he will draw from me and looking at long-term strategic planning. Having said all that though, I'd be shocked if Webb mounted a third party effort.  It would be an exercise in futility at this point and you'd need bucketloads of money to make it practical... and if you have bucketloads of money, why pour it behind Jim Webb?
