Yes, it is weird, and it's been going on for some time now, both in BC and here in WA. There's some wild theories about why just feet are showing up...all I know, if I see a shoe lying on a Pacific beach, I ain't going over to look at it.

I haven't read the article but is it possible that these are remains from the Japan tsunami?
Foot in a shoe would be well-protected from hungry critters. NVM, I just saw that it said this has been happening since 2007. |

There's been cable specials on this.
Apparently, a bunch of rivers feed into the bays/sounds around there, and all the deaths/drownings, suicides from bridges etc. where the body was never recovered, it's common for them to get rotten or detached at the ankle joint, and the foam in common shoes/sneakers etc. makes them float away to the ocean where they swirl around and get found there commonly. And because the deaths/drownings were so far away, the feet aren't commonly put together with police files of the deaths and drownings, pr "Missing person, last seen fishing/boating reports" etc. from several counties away etc. Quoted:

They have identified ten of the feet found in B.C. waters by DNA and almost all of them were suicides from up river.
