I have been bouncing around for months. Sometimes I think the PA advanced micro dot will do... Then I think, no I might as well get an Acog or an aimpoint... Then I say, oh maybe I want something other than a dot reticle... Maybe I should buy a variable scope.... FML.

Maybe I'll just stick with iron sights...

JK that's dumb.

HHHEEEEELLLLLPPPPP.

Edited for spelling.

I'm in the same boat. I need something to replace... a few... EOTechs. I wish someone (anyone) made something similar (big window and circle/dot reticle). Absolute cowitness (like the XPS series) would be cool too.

T1 2moa or T2

Going to those on anything greater than .22 LR that doesn't need magnification.

So true... I just feel like a goof for spending so much on something so small (I understand how critical an optic is).

I mean I can buy an aimpoint t2... Or I can buy the PA dot and a glock 19.

Then there is the part of me that knows you always get what you pay for...

I have 5 Aimpoint PRO's, 2 Amipoint ML3 and 5 Eotechs. I sent back two of the 552's back to Eotech and held on to 3 of my EXPS 2-0
I would replace them with Aimpoint PRO's

Good advice if you can afford the Aimpoint, if not PA makes excellent optics for the $

Eotech!!

On a more serious note, I was playing around with the idea of getting an Eotech for the longest time. I ended up not foing and went with an Aimpoint instead and am happy.

I'd rather have a big window than a micro sight, but the reticle is certainly interesting. How durable are they?

go with an ACOG.  my TA01 is still going strong after nearly 25 years!  That optic has been put through hell, gone to decades of 3-gun matches, rabbit hunting, practical rifle matches, and around a dozen Soldier of Fortune 3-gun matches.  sure, it's finish is a bit scuffed, but the important thing is that it works, and the only time I have EVER needed to adjust the dials is if I change loads.  It has NEVER changed zero between uses unless I changed loads.

sure it is expensive, but gear that works 100% of the time usually is more expensive than more poorly made imitations.

Oh - I'm not an aimpoint snob, but they just plain work.
On rifles that are more of the fun/range/hunting variety, I am just as happy with a micro-dot from PA or Holosun. The 2moa Holo behaves much like an Aimpoint micro, but without the pricetag.

Aimpoint.  Done.

You do not need anything other than a dot.   If the dot is blurry due to astigmatism and you don't have your corrective lenses, look at it through the rear BUIS aperture, that will clear it up.

You don't need a small dot, either.  The 4 MOA is a useful rangefinding tool to help you see when you need to hold over, and how much.   If the target is far enough away that that method is insufficient, then you are probably using the wrong rifle for the job.

Sooooo no consensus yet.  Everyone has their go-to. Everyone's go-to is different.

What do you guys think about TA-33s? I checked one out at my local shop and I really like them for a couple reasons...

first, they have a little magnification (could be a problem up close but I have no experience with it).

second, it's Trijicon...

third, I like the horseshoe reticle.

What I don't like is the relatively small objective lens (I'm used to an Eotech)

And the price. I think the one at my shop was $850 or so.

Thoughts?

The TA-33 ain't bad as long as you keep both eyes open and use the Binden Aiming System.

But if your eyes don't work like that (a small percentage of the population), then the magnification is going to make it hard to find moving targets up close like any scope.

In the shop I had no problem with keeping both eyes open. That's how I've shot my whole life so keeping both eyes open was GTG.

Have you shot with one? I feel like I'm looking through a peephole.
