Assuming no short barrels.

You hear a window break downstairs and dogs barking. You have an OAL 40" 12 gauge Semi auto shotgun (6+1), an OAL 28.15" Steyr Aug (30+1), and an OAL 34" AR15 (30+1) all sitting right next to each other. Which would you grab to make your way downstairs with? Imagine you had extensive experience with all 3 and had never had a functional problem with any.

*edit, you can take any flashlight you want and every gun has the same exact sights.

The bullpup more maneuverable in close quarters combat and unlike buckshot there wont be a risk of shot hitting more than the target and just for shits I would have it loaded with RIP ammo for that extra punch.

shotgun is beside the bed anyway...equipped with a light...in order to access the living room I have to pass my safe....so I could check out the situation...swiss cheese some bad guys...and fall back to the safe to grab what ever the hell I want to finish the job...meanwhile the wife unit is in the bedroom on the phone with the cops with her glock 19 prepared to swiss cheese anyone that comes into the bedroom not looking like me

I'd be fine with any of the three, but if I was to choose one it would be the AR or AUG, between those 2, whichever is configured best for HD distance, or whichever is closer.

I currently run an AUG A3M1 as my HD gun so i'll take it. I also have several SBRd M4 style weapons but the AUG is the best choice for my HD needs. I DO use a 42 round magazine down loaded to 40.

Shotgun. At such a close range the 556/223 won't have a chance to tumble and therefore would be less effective.

AR all day, every day.... Fuck shotguns. If I suspect my home is being invaded by Quail, Dove, or a random 3-Gun stage suddenly appears in my living room, I'll grab a shotgun.

Besides.... I live in a single story.... If I hear shit going on downstairs, I've got bigger problems and a gun isn't going to fix it. Maybe I'd need a Priest.

I guess you can use an non Short barreled shotgun. Which would you prefer?

Most of the semi-auto ones I looked at that helt 6-8+1 were more that 40". Including FN SLP, Benelli M4 and a Saiga 12 gauge.

Probably the AK, wouldn't feel under armed with my 930 however. Tbh Im actually slightly faster up close with the shotgun.

AR15. First time, every time. Even a 16" gun. I wouldn't feel unarmed with my Tavor or the 870, but the AR is going to do the job better.

But both of my "social" rifles are SBRs though, so premise fail.
