I guess I was vaguely aware of this rifle but never paid much attention. It might be a useful rifle in ban states, at least the competition model. So this thing is a modified version of the BAR. Sadly not THAT BAR, the other one. It's the Browning hunting rifle that takes different mags and has an apparently very accurate chrome lined 308 barrel ( fn is good at accurate chrome lined barrels, they used to sell a precision rifle that was chrome lined). The competition one has rails at both ends so you could put irons on it. It is apparently accurate, reliable ( maybe who knows, the bar basis does not inspire confidence ) and about as heavy as a garand, G3 etc. If it was a little lighter it would serve as a big 10/22 that you could hunt with but still use as a fighting rifle. I guess the mags are blued, not parkerized, it is hard to field strip and not threaded, but really who in a free state is going to mess with this rifle? Oh and it's blue |

I traded for one. Put 250 rnds down range over a couple of weeks to make sure it was the rifle that I didn't like.. then gone. Don't like them and you won't change my mind.
Dead reliable and accurate enough for most uses. But a the AR platform is much more user friendly. |

I owned one and the damn thing never would feed properly. I was told to use one specific type of ammo

I think a piece of my soul cried out in agony and died when I looked at that link.

They get good reviews on most of the the videos i've seen on them
ETA: I have no interest in one, I just watch random gun reviews online when I get really bored, And random knife review videos, and backpacks etc, etc, etc |

Since I'm moving to MA, this thread is relevant to my interest

Aimless, I truly feel for you, stuck behind enemy lines, unable to fly to safety.
Every time you post about a rifle to buy it is like you are at the $1 whore house trying to pick the least worst one of the bunch. May you one day spread your wings and reach the fee states where you can buy a rifle that isn't butt ugly or a mini14. Amen. |

If the blue one had standard military sights, a rail and was black with brown or green furniture I think it might be a decent " standard" rifle

I kinda like it as something different.
dont like it with a pistol grip, screws the lines up. |

In 2009 those magazines were selling for $100+. Not sure what they cost now, boça they could get expensive again in a panic scare.

I'd rather have an Ares SCR. Yeah, it doesn't take .308 style uppers, but there are a lot of choices for calibers in the AR15 platform.

They tell you to send it to the factory for detail cleaning.
I love FNH but pass. |

I would own one already if it came in red. I prefer FAL but the spouse unit liked the FNAR. And her favorite color is red.

Making it look like a fudd gun doesn't make it any less of a gun.
I'll take easy to replace mags, durable finishes, and less weight, tyvm. |

Today, OP reminded me to be thankful for the gun laws in my state.
Dear Lord is that thing ugly. |

Had one, loved it. Then I took it apart to clean, holy crap. Sold it and bought a ruger precision rifle.

FNAR has been around for a while. That just looks like a different variant of it. Winchester had a version of it in mossy oak camo. CDNN blew em out a few years ago for like $800. Should have fent. A guy I used to work with had one. It's heavy and a bitch to take apart, but very accurate.

Arfcom's favorite youtuber wouldn't shut up about it for a couple of years.

FN, .308 semi auto, 10 rd mag....For someone living in a ban state, what's not to like...except the color?
