Beretta Cougar 9mm.
And if I could find the gun sales employee that assisted me that day I'd like to apologize to him. I was the quintessential ignorant noob. I knew less than nothing about pistols. I literally bought it based solely on esthetics. It should come as no surprise that the more I learned and the more I shot pistols the more I realized I'd made a mistake with that purchase. Live and learn. |

Ruger Single Six.

Universal M-1 carbine, for $150 in 1985 at the Crossroads of the West gun show in SLC.
I still remember walking 2-3 blocks through downtown SLC to where my car was parked with that rifle slung over my shoulder. No one even blinked. |

Marlin 336C in .30-30 in 1983, when I was 12. My Dad told me that if I wanted to go hunting with him, I needed a rifle, which meant I needed a job. So, I got a paper route and busted my ass until I had enough scratch to go down to K-Mart and buy one.

Kel Tec Sub2000 in .40 that took Glock mags. I never knew a PCC could kick that much other than that, it was great but I never got over how "violent" it was to shoot. Traded it a few weeks later for an M92 PAP

1995 - Ruger Redhawk .44 Magnum
I turned 21, and went out to buy a gun, per my Rights! I was always facinated with my grandfather's shiny stainless steel-wood gripped S&W .357. I am also a Dirty Harry fan. So, I got to the store, saw a shiny stainless steel wood gripped Redhawk, and said I'll take it. I honestly thought it would be my only gun, so the fact that it was a ginormous caliber didn't matter much, I figured I'd only shoot it a few times. Well, I shot it a lot, and that lead me right into reloading a few short months later, and the rest is history. Yup, I still have the gun, and shoot it fairly often. |
