Still nothing tops Whitney Houston's 1991 rendition. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_lCmBvYMRs No pop stars, no vocal show offs, just the Star Spangled Banner, the cadets, and the US Army Herald Trumpet Corps. Beat me to it. Also FWIW, the Super Bowl National Anthem is almost always pre-recorded and lip synched/fingered. Too much to lose for the performer if something goes wrong. Yes, it's them performing it but it's usually pre-recorded. They're usually still singing on the field, but the mics are usually off. |

That's true a local radio station played her rendition of it earlier this week. |

Not sure if it was mentioned yet, but I took more issue with all of the hooting, hollering and cat calls from the audience. On a brighter note, all of the players seemed to show respect, with even some of them singing/mouthing along with hands at sides or over hearts. |

I agree, she did really well. I knew she was a great singer, but it's rare to actually hear her sing.
I halfway expected her to be wearing someone else's skin, like an edger suit or something. Woman is batshit crazy. |

Freddie Mercury is a reincarnation of Lady GaGa. Notice how Freddie Mercury had a song called Radio GaGa? Lady Gaga's face looks a little like Freddie.

I hate the cunt.
I expected to be insulted. I wasn't...until the commercials started. The Bitch played it safe. It's the closest thing assholes like her, get to respect . I have no issue with that. There have been many, that were worse. |

If one takes away all the hype and Internet Social media crap she is actually A quite accomplished singer. She did a "normal" Christmas special on tv a few years back And was excellent. View Quote This is true, She's actually quite talented. It's a shame in today's music scene, where you have to be such an oddity or freak to gain any attention. |

She did a good job, it appeared that she got a little emotional. Not surprising since the Anthem at the Super Bowl is the most critically viewed performance any artist can endure. I've seen better, but I've also seen a lot worse - GaGa did good, did not let the pressure get to her, she did not forget a word or switch lines around. She is up there with Whitney. And fuck Rosanne Barr's disgraceful "performance"

You guys love to give Gaga shit for her looks. She's always been hot Italian girl, even under some of the crazy costumes.
Now Beyonce on the other hand... Humpty-dumpty in a fright wig. |

Yep, I thought she did a respectful and true rendition of the song.

I could have done with a few less flourishes but overall a solid rendition of the national anthem.
Now that her pop fame has been firmly solidified, she is coming out more and more on the normal side. The album with Tony Bennett more closely shows her talent and the sound of music rendition at the Oscars last year was really impressive. I suspect that in the next couple of years she will abandon the weird image and fully come out as just a plain talented vocalist. |

I like that she seemed proud to be doing the National Anthem. She held her hand over her heart for a good portion of it.
Great rendition without any "reinterpretation" as well... good on her. |
