On some days my targets look better. On some days they look like that. On the days that they look like that I ask myself what I was doing differently. I think what's important to take away from the feedback, even the bluntly given feedback, is what could I be doing to improve? I don't get to the range as often as I'd like anymore so I try to make the best of it, if that means slowing way down and just practicing my fundamentals again instead of funner stuff so be it, the skill degrades quickly and it's obvious when it has to me.

Okay so here's all the rules so far:
Must be a gun you carry, which apparently OP carries a G17 Shoot blazer brass ammo Have someone shooting a loud gun next to you Be hungry Find the same exact target OP used Use a shitty striker fired gun, even though OP can shoot hammer guns like a laser Be 50 whole feet away Is there any other stipulations you would like to put on this challenge to make it impossible for anyone to replicate your experience? I was going to give this a legit try tomorrow, but this is just getting silly. |

You stacked rounds with the vp9 for what appears to be about 3-4 rounds, then shit went crazy. Kinda like you were scared of the recoil throughout the firing sequence

TTT
Burnsy, Bison and Boxofrox are called out to show us how well they can shoot at the NRA B-3 target or equivalent at 50 ft, with carry gun, shooting their plinking ammo of choice. One complete mag. for a group. Standing, unsupported. First target of the day. Just like I said on pg 2. Or else you're just all talk. Everybody else who thinks that is "terrible" shooting is more than welcome to put up or shut up as well. |

Meh
at least you got out and shot. I haven't fired a handgun in almost two years. 50 feet's a long way to shoot anyways. From the looks of it you hit the target every time. Not bad My club has an indoor 25 yard pistol range and when I was really into shooting I could group some where around 4" shooting unsupported and firing one of my 1911"s I doubt I could do that now |

You don't need anyone's opinion on your groups because you already think they are pretty damn good. If those groups make you happy, great. Be happy with yourself. I'm going to go read something else.

I'll go shoot my carry gun today. Can you can repost your target with a ruler on it, or at least tell me the dia of the circle?
Edit: Are you going to freak out if I use plain Jane UMC bulk ammo? |
|
I've never shot Blazer Brass with any sort of consistency.
It's been awhile but that group reminds me of what I used to shoot with my G19 and Blazer ammo, rested, at about that range. My XDsc would almost always outshoot the G19. Come to think of it, almost every 9mm I own would outshoot the Glock. It's probably just me though. |
|
View Quote Agreed. I just found my 25 MOA targets that I never entered. |

It's the internet, ignore the critics. With the proper practice you can shrink the size of the groups you posted considerably. There's some good advice in the posts prior to mine on how to do it. An extremely high percentage of self defense shooting happen inside of 10 feet making slow fire target accuracy relatively unimportant. Situational awareness and knowing the ins and outs of defensive tactics are more important than shooting skills. If a bad guy has drawn on you first the odds are in his favor. I'd suggest a course by a respected instructor for everyone that hasn't had training in all things related to self defense with a firearm.

Trigger finger placement experiment
At what distamce do you fall apart at. OP, you need to take a different approach... |
|
I shoot similar targets at 15 yards. You have no grouping so something is wonky with either your ammo, your barrel, or your shooting.
|
|
It depends on how fast you were shooting and your stress level at the time.
If that was slow fire you either need glasses or practice or better technique. |

^ the details of the target. Please be the first one to actually try it under my challenge instead of hurling insults. Your plinking ammo of choice is fine. No hamdloads no target pistols. Your carry gun.

First target up for the day with my striker fired carry guns using plinking ammo. 50 ft is quite a long way for a handgun. It is a little ways out there considering most people shoot no futher than 7 to 10 yds. Especially at that particular target with combat sights that obscure the black. A target gun with 6 oclock hold target sights, long sight radius and crisp hammer fired trigger would have smoked it. |
