NW Illinois is surprisingly beautiful. When I was on a traveling team doing wildlife habitat work I did a big project up in Chadwick. Love it up there. But to be nitpicky, Western Ililnois is generally considered to be about in a line from Galesburg south to Beardstown, Jacksonville, and Alton. Mt Carrol is North east of where I live
