He doesn't know I posted this yet as he is bed ridden and it's extremely difficult for him to sit up. Lets surprise him and let him know we have his 6.

I just got your email Striker and I'm crying while reading it & your post here (happy & sad tears), as i write this. I don't even know what to say at the moment.
Here is an article that was written about my story & medical situation in November of 2014 by a former FOX News Anchor/Journalist that I would like to share with everyone. She interviewed me, wrote & published the article nationally online in hopes that it would help advocate for me to my State's health care system, but to no avail. It also has some information in it that might save anyone else here or their family/friends from having this possibly happen to them- by not allowing a surgeon to put mesh into the human body.

I'm not positive, but I think I remember seeing a commercial for a class action suit over mesh. Is it possible you could join that, or hire a lawyer for a malpractice suit, or get that surgeon to pay for this surgery? If you have a Dr that will do it for 10k, your first surgeon might consider that a bargain. Just a few thoughts.

yes, I've seen those mesh commercials, too, mostly oriented toward women.
A former SIL had to get a mesh job repaired in Houston after a bad experience..

anonymous donation made to the fundraising site.

good luck, doug.

I can't imagine what he's going through, and I have chronic pain. Thankfully only in my leg, and it's not every second of every day.

Have you looked into Medicaid or an exchange plan? All politics aside you should be able to have insurance of some form or another cover the procedure.

Eta: Just read the part about you already being disabled. Have you spoken to a lawyer about this being a complication of the original accident and going after the 18 wheeler company?

Please please don't take this wrong but if you turned up at the ER in intense pain, wouldn't this be addressed?

I'm thinking of my brother-in-law, who has had 5 or 6 heart procedures done (mostly stents), and prostate surgery, and he has never had any insurance, medicare or medicaid. When he has an attack he is taken to the ER and they wheel him into surgery within an hour. He has no money to pay the bills, so I guess they just end up writing it off.

I'm just sayin', and not from hearsay ... I've been to the hospital with him! As much pain as you're in, I'd call an ambulance and dare them to turn you away.

Reference (from Wikipedia):

Can a hospital refuse to treat a patient?

Public and private hospitals alike are prohibited by law from denying a patient care in an emergency. The Emergency Medical and Treatment Labor Act (EMTLA) passed by Congress in 1986 explicitly forbids the denial of care to indigent or uninsured patients based on a lack of ability to pay.

Could a good lawyer tie this to the original accident and as such have the person/company responsible foot the bill?

My heart sank reading your article.

I had the same hernia surgery in October and am experiencing worse pain now then before.  I have a lot of the same issues with pain in the same areas.  I got the same run around from the doctor.  His reply is it is just everything getting used to its new home.  I get severe pain out of no where like somebody is poking me as hard as they can with thier finger. It is really bizarre.   I wake up in the middle of the night swinging thinking somebody is attacking me or something.

Wished I never had it done.

I remember years ago that M4-CQBR put on a group buy for a 5.56 ammo from a Maine reloading company that fell apart due to no fault of his own.

He was/is a true gentleman & got the refund processed from the vendor.

Not much but a little something on it's way to you,Good Luck & God Bless!
