Excellent! After getting to know Doug I have my wallet in hand and would love to be first in line. He is a fine person who needs this more than anything I need, now or ever. I tapped my gun fund $250 for the last fund raiser and I will tap it again for what ever is needed on this one!

Stay strong Doug!

FDA Adverse Event Reporting
Hundreds of thousands of hernia repair operations are performed each year both with and without surgical mesh, and patients generally recover quickly and do well after surgery.

However, FDA has received reports of complications associated with the mesh. The complications include adverse reactions to the mesh, adhesions (when the loops of the intestines adhere to each other or the mesh), and injuries to nearby organs, nerves or blood vessels . Other complications of hernia repair can occur with or without the mesh, including infection, chronic pain and hernia recurrence.

Reporting complications to the FDA

In order to help FDA learn more about possible problems with surgical mesh, it’s important that both physicians and patients report complications that may be associated with this product.

You can report any problems to the FDA's MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program either online, by regular mail or by FAX.

Online : MedWatch Online Voluntary Reporting Form (3500)
Regular Mail : use postage-paid FDA form 3500 available at: MedWatch Forms
Mail to MedWatch 5600 Fishers Lane, Rockville, MD 20852-9787
   FAX: 1-800-FDA-0178

My understanding is that Doug had a C.R. Bard surgical mesh implanted in him. If what he was told by the surgeon is accurate, this is the same company that:
1) Used illegal kickbacks to promote use of its products
2) Has paid $200M+ in settlements related to 3000+ trans-vaginal mesh cases (very similar product, different application)

I don't think it would be unreasonable to explore legal options, either now or after surgery to remove the mesh/fix the damage.

Exactly. Add to that a medical system that will not address the real problem out of fear. The original doctor has done his best to cover his tracks and is banking on Doug not being able to go after him. No one in the medical community wants to go anywhere near this mess. The only doctor willing to touch this is the one in LV who started a cash only practice. He is not in the pocket of any insurance companies so he can provide quality service without fear.

This whole deal stinks to high hell and it is riding on Dougs back.

Stay strong Doug!

I mentioned in one of the associated threads that the wife's sister-in-law ended up suing to have her trans-vaginal mesh job fixed several years ago. She was a mess.
if there's any $$ left over I wouldn't be opposed to Doug using it to get a lawyer.

Doug,

I hope you have as painless and uncomplicated as possible surgery and an easy recovery.

I wish I could have helped more, but I'm still recovering financially from my big abdominal surgery in September, and the bills keep coming!

I'm glad ARFCOM was able to pull together and get this done!
