Cancer is the devil. Been a lot of it around me the last couple years.

The thing you have to do is stay positive. Not just for show, believe you will be OK. I have seen this make the difference many times.

I will say a prayer for you every night. I will tell my wife and kids to do the same.

at the age of 80 something 25 years after beating it!

Is it adenocarcinoma or PNET ? PNET is slower growing but less common.

A word of advice for you : fight it HARD and fight it FAST. Full court press, all out, balls to the walls, all-in, take no prisoners. Pancreatic cancer is a scary one and the earlier and harder you can hit it the better.
You don't want to dick around with ineffective treatments and get too battered from the weight loss and digestive issues, because then it gets harder to handle the chemo.

Its very good that it is operable, my dads was not when it was discovered. If they offer you adjuvant chemo take it. One of the best regiments out there now is called "Folfirinox" - it can be harsh but has had better results .
Gemzar/Abraxane is another one with potential.

There is a good and supportive message board for pancreatic cancer at www.cancerforums.net.

And if it feels like you aren't digesting food well ask about replacement pancreatic enzymes (CREON). I'd asked about it for my dad but the docs blew me off then he lost even more weight and they finally put him on it. Grrrr.

And remember: you are young (if you have a 6 year old kid) , you are strong, it is operable, and you CAN beat this.

By means of encouragement... Ruth Bader-Ginsburg was found to have operable pancreatic cancer - and that was back in 2009. She is still going strong. But you are likely younger than she was. She was in her mid 70's. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, OP.

I you don't mind me asking... How did you find out you had pancreatic cancer? I'm very pre-disposed to it genetically and would want to get a jump on it as early as possible. I once asked my doc about screening and was told there was no way to screen for it. I don't know if that's true, but I am no longer at that doc for other reasons.
