I will be the contrarian.
1. The article fails to mention the 400 million guns already in circulation, which will grow to 600 million before whites become the minority.
2. The article fails to mention Heller vs. DC, or Chicago vs, McDonald.
3. Computer games have made guns very cool, in comparison to the 1990's, when guns were stigmatized across the board. Call of Duty 4, etc...
4. NICS background checks have set monthly records for each of the last 5 months. There is a stealth panic going on. Now. Today.
Obama could not gun control through after Sandy Hook, with a Democratically controlled Senate. That is a stunning rebuke of both him and his policies.
You people that think we're always going to have guns always forget one little thing...
They aren't trying to take away or make YOU get rid of your guns - They want your grandkid or great-grandkid to go "Why do we even have these things?"
It's not a race. They'll get into the media, the schools, educate the NEXT generation a little more...
Next generation after that... little more...
After that... even more...
ETA: That's always the punch line with pro-gun groups. They think the left really gives a rats ass, or is going to be restrained by things like Heller, or some regulation going away.

Every study and poll I've seen in recent years shows that young people in this country are extremely comfortable with an utterly ridiculous (IMO) amount of government control over their lives. Every one.
Quite a large number of them also have a rather dim view of Western Civilization and Capitalism.
Couple that with the unending influx of non-Western immigrants... it's only a matter of time; not just for gun rights, but for our way of life.
I've always felt that this country's most successful time was the 20 years between 1945 and 1965. Think about what America was like in 1965.
Now think about how different this country is today, just 50 years later. Now ask yourself what it's going to be like in another 50 years... 100 years.
It's difficult (and usually futile) to make predictions about the future. So many variables. Honestly though, we're coming up on 240 years old, and I doubt this country will see another 240, at least in its current incarnation.
