Possibly an officer shot

Officers at the scene were searching for the man who allegedly shot the officer, who had responded to a domestic disturbance, authorities said. The officer's condition wasn't immediately available. The suspect was described as a white man in his 20s with blonde hair. Earlier in the evening, state and local police earlier got a report of a fight at the home, where a woman was assaulted, authorities said. The woman told Westmoreland County 911 that the man had left and the house was filling with smoke. Five minutes later, 911 received a frantic radio call. “Officer down! Officer down!” I've been listening for about 30 min - PD can't find where they're staging, many couldn't find the proper roads. Sounds like they're staged up on Creek Rd. south of the river and have been asking for FLIR/Imaging equipment
Trying to stay low profile - lights off. |

Scanner will probably be quiet for a bit - they pushed all non-priority traffic off so the radios weren't squawking in the woods

Police officer shot and killed Updated: Sunday, November 29 2015, 12:20 AM EST *Update: At 12:18 a.m. Cambria Co. Coroner Jeff Lees said an officer from Westmoreland County was fatally shot Saturday night. He said he died in the Conemaugh emergency room. An official from St. Clair township in Westmoreland Co. told 6 News that he worked for both the St. Clair Twp. police and New Florence police departments. *Update: At 11:25 p.m. NBC affiliate WPXI-TV in Pittsburgh is reporting the officer is from the New Florence Police Department. 6 News crew on scene reports Cambria Co. SERT team on scene. NEW FLORENCE, Pa. – Police said a gunman is on the loose in the area of New Florence, Westmoreland Co., just 13 miles west of Johnstown. Sources tell 6 News an officer was responding to a domestic dispute at a house on the 100 block of Ligonier Street in New Florence. Those sources said the officer was shot and found in the yard of a burning house. State Police and many other agencies, including Johnstown Police are converging on the location. A St. Clair Township police officer died after being shot while responding to a domestic dispute Saturday night in New Florence. Officer Lloyd Reed was shot around 9:15 p.m. at a house on Ligonier Street. He was taken to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, where he died. VIDEO: Watch David Kaplan's report Ray Shetler Jr., 31, is accused of shooting Reed, state police said. Shetler was caught six hours after the shooting near a power plant outside New Florence. Shelter was treated for a gunshot wound to his shoulder. The New Florence Fire Chief said the call for the domestic dispute came first, followed by a call for a structure fire. |
