So an elite military unit that has the ability to hold the highest office in the land up for bidding? One that also has the will and clout to depose the rightful holder of that office if they don't get what they want?
No thanks, I prefer to keep the military controlled by the civilian government and not the reverse. |

Some would have you believe that the modern military industrial complex is just such a body. One wouldn't have to look far to see the never ending wars both hot and cold since 1945 as an example.

They have to be much more subtle and underhanded about their dealings though. You have to account for all the retired generals and senators working as lobbyists openly (and legally) bribing members of congress and senior military members to influence the continued fleecing of the taxpayers. |
