I look at this situation today and the way the LEO's went through the building and wonder how much different it would be if it was a Paris style event with multiple unknown attackers.. In the beginning the shooter had the upper hand, probably because the cops were out gunned, When the suspect retreated into PP it went back and forth for a while. but the good guys made slow and steady progress. In a bigger Paris style shit storm I gotta think it would have looked a lot worse, Also, once they became organized, the LEO's would have to move fast or people would be dying so the slow and meticulous way can not be used, You would have to risk going into shit you did not know about and had not had enough time to prepare for,

Being that I was unfamiliar with the MP-7, I googled them, and saw that cartridge. It might be fine for executive or personal protection, but this is amazing to me: 
I agree that any LEO responding to any active shooter, much less a Paris style jihad attack, it's gonna be a major clusterfuck for the first 30 or so minutes until they figure out what and where, and then marshal the resources in to be able to deal with the situation. The average single man patrol unit is ill equipped to deal with a rifle wielding or multiple attackers. Civies will always die first, the first responders just have to try to mitigate it as best they can. ETA: RIP Officer Swasey. |

Colorado Springs shooting: Planned Parenthood suspect named as Robert Lewis Dear
Mayor John Suthers confirmed Mr Dear, who is believed to be from North Carolina, was in custody.
It is believed the suspected gunman entered the clinic – which offers reproductive and sexual healthcare – at around 11.30am, carrying a number of bags and wearing a long trench coat, a hunting-style hat and armed with what has been described as a “long gun”. Confusion was initially provoked after confusion as to whether the gunman was inside the clinic or on the loose. Two civilians, who have not been identified, were killed after the gunman entered the building and the third victim, 44-year-old police officer Garrett Swasey, died after responding to calls of an “officer under fire”. Officer Swasey, a father of two young children, had worked for past six years for the University of Colorado, roughly ten miles away from the shooting. Vicki Cowart, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, confirmed none of the facility’s staff had been hurt in the attack but emphasised they were unaware of the “full circumstances and motives behind this criminal action”. “We share the concerns of many Americans that extremists are creating a poisonous environment that feeds domestic terrorism in this country,” she added in a statement. Anyone know what was going on this morning? At about 330/345 officers were parked perpendicular on th berm of I25 and more parallel two miles down the road. This was in the vicinity of 24 west exit and 24 east exit.
I'd assume the were transporting officer Swasey and these officers were along the route for honor/respect. |
