A glamorous local Russian MP and her husband - both semi-naked on the back seat of their Toyota RAV4 - died when a bomb exploded in the vehicle.

The face of Oksana Bobrovskaya, 30, who was in Vladimir Putin's United Russia Party, was ripped off in the blast in Siberia's largest city, Novosibirsk.

While she and husband Nikita appeared to be having a late-night romp when the car exploded in temperatures of minus 6C near her office, police fear the husband may have detonated the explosives in a fit of jealousy.

There were also claims that a bomb was planted in the car with the husband as the sole intended victim. 'We are checking all the versions, including this,' said a law enforcement source. But Novosibirsk mayor Anatoly Lokot said that the death of the MP was due to family problems. 'This was not a terrorist act,' he said.

First rule, disregard whatever the Russian police and government say.

Siberia has been undergoing a low grade separatist movement for several years.

Large portions are occupied by non-Russian ethnic groups hostile to moscow.

Additionally many are pissed at Putin for giving territory to Chinese immigrants.

A vast majority of Russian wealth is generated in Siberia.

Most of the money goes to Russian politicians/mofia and non is spent locally.

A lot of Siberians have been saying why should we slave for the corrupt politicians in Moscow and St. Petersburg when we could be one of the richest territories in the world.

I suspect that some of the dissidents were tired of her complicity.

Or she was involved in an anti Putin group or was skimming too much from local contracts.

I doubt they blew themselves up while having sex.
