In a situation like that I totally respect a desire to carry in your house. For that matter, anyone can do just about anything they want to in their home. I just think it odd for many people to attempt to articulate a rationalization for carrying in their house without an air of paranoia wafting around the words. If you just say you wear it out of force of habit or simply because you like your gun a lot and it simply pleases you to have it on -- both sound perfectly rational to me. But to state that a boogieman might come and get you when you live in the middle of Crackerville Suburbia, then it sounds a little unhinged. "I don't know how anyone can even begin to rationalize this, so they MUST be paranoid or unhinged!" Project much? ....that made a lot of no sense. Try harder, or just say you disagree because I underestimate the danger. You implied that to think that one might be the victim of a home invasion, e.g. "a boogieman might come and get you", i.e. articulating a rationale like a home invasion carries a inherent paranoid delusion of some sort. You did. You've already made up your mind that whatever explanation that somebody comes up with is going to be paranoid or unhinged. People who project refuse to admit such thoughts, as that allows them to avoid any blame or ownership for the logical conclusions of their thoughts. Obviously, you are unaware that you are projecting. Carry on. |

I carry everywhere, it's easier to just leave it on when I get home than it is to take it off, then put it back on when I leave for something else etc.

I do... mostly due to the fact that I feel naked if I'm not carrying. It has been so many years that I'm just used to the weight on my hip.
It's not like there is ever a gun out of reach though if I'm sitting in my underwear. |

There is no doubt that home invasions occur. We all know they do, but I just think it is silly to walk around with a gun on my hip in my own home. I do it from time to time when I come home for lunch or know I am leaving again soon. When I am home for any length of time I take it off and relax. My duty weapon is always near by but I don't transfer it to every room of the house as I move around. I have an SBR next to the bed for bumps in the night. I have two dags that bark as soon as someone or something enters the property. People have to close 200 feet of open ground to approach the house from three sides and 100 feet from the rear. When the dags give the alert. I observe the situation and if I think a gun is needed, I simply pick one up.
Like I said before. I feel safe in my home. If I didn't then I would take the steps to find/make peace here or move to another location. Again, this is just my opinion and my way of thinking and doing things. If you are one of those people who carry in your home. Cool deal bro. I will continue to laugh at you tho. |

I used to have guns just laying on a desk or whatever in multiple places in my home. Now that I have a 4yr old they are all locked up, but if I have pants on then at a minimum I have my P238 in my pocket or a 9mm on my hip.

Look, every creature in the animal kingdom has their own built-in defense mechanism, we, on the other hand, do not. Therefore, we had to create and build ours and, by design, must carry it or attach it to ourselves in some manner or happen to have it nearby when needed.
Other considerations take a secondary priority if survival is your primary concern. And, as we all know, merely having a "defense" mechanism, and even being considered an expert in it's use, does not ever guarantee you winning an encounter, many variables are at work. I would say the best asset to possess is a keen sense of situational awareness and being able to properly assess your enviroment, paying attention to details and the position of the hairs on the back of your neck. These things will help you expect an encounter, but still does not guarantee you win. |

Short answer, pants on, guns on.
That said, I'm rarely wearing pants at home. But there is always a handgun within easy reach. Usually the one that came off when the pants did. It sits in its holster next to me 95% of the time. The rest is me getting up for odds and ends. |

Of course it is nothing like that. I'm not wearing my duty belt when I'm off duty around the house. I have a simple IWB holster on my non work clothes, gun goes in, and gets forgotten about until it is time to go to bed; then it goes back in the night stand. I rarely think about it, but it is there, just like my phone and such. |

IMO home invasions are just one reason to carry at home.
Another reason is that it turns your carry gun into just another item you put on in the morning, like your wallet, keys or even your underwear. It becomes second nature that way, if you have your pants on, you have your gun on. And without it, you feel naked and weird. With it feels totally normal.
It's the best way to get comfortable carrying a gun all the time and the only way I know of that makes you feel undressed without one. Try it, after a few weeks you'll forget it's there until it's not there...or until you need it. |

That's a little ridiculous. It's a lot simpler than that. Because I wear pants every day, I get dressed, put my gun on, and leave it there until I go to bed, at which point I get undressed, and put the gun on the nightstand. It is neither inconvenient or uncomfortable in any manner to do this. There is very little salivating. Your commentary is both amusing and sad, because it's startlingly similar to the same sorts of wild scenarios and projection that people use to decry just simply owning a gun. |

My only fear in life is to be unable to defend my family from being harmed. So laugh all you want cool guy but my wife will never be gang raped because my firearm and was in another room. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile Not knocking you bro. We all do what we think we have to do. Do tell. When I read the replays of guys walking around at 9:30pm with holsters on, I can't help but picture them like this... Fully clothed, Sitting in the living room with the chair facing the front door. Poised. Salivating with Feet firmly planted on the floor and arms braced for immediate action and the gunfight of their lives. I then picture IceCube and the NWA kicking the door open... Dust and debris flying! The hero dad swiftly springs to his feet, drawing his weapon and blasting the thugs, each one with precision and purpose. Two to the body, one to head!
That's the kind of reply I'd expect from a liberal. What is liberal about anything I posted? We at not discussing politics at all. It has nothing to do with home defense at all. You are delusional. I bet you are the life of many parties. Lol |

Yeah I do, when I go to the kitchen I pick up the glock and carry it to the kitchen and make dinner. When I sit in the dinning room table I carry dinner and the glock. While cleaning up I carry the glock room to room as I go about whatever I'm doing. And when I go to bed the glock comes too.
Now DO NOT think that thing is strapped to my body. |

ITT, people who have never carried a gun, people with shitty uncomfortable carry rigs, and people who have apparently only overtly carry "duty weapons" gather to gawk in amazement that someone might sit on their couch at 9PM with their CCW still on

Even better, this magic device secures your firearm even better than the best quick access biometric/touchcode safe. But wait there's more! You can even use this magic device OUTSIDE of your home and enjoy all the same benefits - and at a price competitive with any of the inferior alternative methods we've mentioned! What is this sorcery you say? Why my friend, it is called "a quality belt and quality concealable holster" and it is just as comfortable as wearing pants. And it can be yours as well!* *Offer not available to those who are worried some Internet halfwit might make fun of them for using the solution that offered best security & best access at the best cost. |

Do people actually worry about what other people do in the privacy of their home that has no effect on them whatsoever?

I always carry my fleshlight on me 24/7, even in my house.
Never thought about carrying a gun... |

It's just part of my EDC - why bother to take it off? |

I regularly fall asleep with my G19 holstered. It's plenty comfortable. |

go stand by the window nearest your front door, usually less an 1/8" thick piece of glass is all that separates you and your family from all the evil in the world. Dress accordingly.
it's not hard to keep a ccw and cell phone very nearby. |

Yup. If I can't wear it on my person (in pj's, etc) I carry it in it's holster room to room and set it down next to me.
I've been doing it so long that no one in my family pays attention to it anymore (kids are all teens). When I come home from work, if I was carrying the .380 that day it gets swapped for a bigger gun as soon as I get home. Nothing smaller than a 9mm gets carried in the house. Aa was said earlier, 100% of home invasions occur in the home. -bob |

Always, and it's not uncomfortable at all.
Once you've made the decision to carry, you already acknowledge that something bad may happen when you least expect it, and have prepared for it. Why does being at home change that thought? Maybe someday I'll develop the power to foresee the time and location of a threat. Until then, I wont have to think about whether or not I need to run somewhere to grab a gun. |

I always carry at home. And I'm always naked at home. So I scrotum carry my 1911 Series 70. Fully cocked, then GENTLY let the hammer down on my scrotum. It's always with me whereever I go in the house. And instantly ready for action. I just need to to keep remembering to cock the hammer before lifting and aiming!

I don't carry at home ever. But there's very few corners without a gun of some kind in it. And very few cabinets.
our house is a home invaders nightmare, and a burglars jackpot. |

I don't carry in my house but what you are saying is not true. There is ONE person in the history of mankind who has been hit by a meteor and she survived with a monster bruise. We have multiple members on this site alone who have survived a home invasion with rounds fired and a bad guy left DRT. |

I live in the country. Ten years or so ago I'd never heard of a home invasion around here. There was an older couple up the road that lived back a 1/2 mile long township road that ended at their driveway. I was visiting them one day and I asked them about their home protection. The man said he had a 38 on the nightstand by his bed. I told him I didn't want to alarm him but that I thought their situation living back that lane required some changes. I explained how quickly home invasions go and did my best to persuade him that the gun on his upstairs nightstand was of no use in a daytime home invasion. I urged him to get a holster and belt for for it and offered to help him find one. He thought the idea of a home invasion was far fetched. 2-3 months after our talk, two men with panty hose over their heads burst into their home, it was summer so basically they walked in through their screen door. He was lying on the sofa. I don't remember where his wife was. Their ankles and wrists were duct taped and their house ransacked while they lay there in fear for their lives. The criminals got their gun and everything else of any value. They were still alive and physically unhurt after thier ordeal but left their country home that they love and moved back to the city. I live back a long driveway in the woods. I'm protected by a rottweiler that will defend us with his life, and various pistols about the house. I'm not afraid because I still have the right to own and carry guns.
