I'm posting this to see if we can make a strong final push for the LSF Retreat Fundraiser. From Hughes Home Elevators, the company doing the elevator install:
A brand new ARFCOM Forged Rifle will be delivered to a lucky winner soon. It’s a great incentive for us to help provide an elevator to give wounded veterans full access to the beautiful new LONE SURVIVOR Rehabilitation Center located at Crystal Beach, TX. This country has seen 1.9 million new veterans since October of 2001. Of those veterans, close to 40% will be diagnosed with some form of a combat-related invisible injury. Treating those symptoms is the main focus for the Lone Survivor Foundation. An elevator is essential for full access to any multi-story facility such as this. HUGHES HOME ELEVATORS is a Texas based, family owned company that has agreed to both install and maintain the elevator at this retreat. Your donations and support will be greatly appreciated. Raffle tickets will be $5 each or 6 for $25. All proceeds go directly to help offset the cost of manufacturing and installing the elevator. Donations above this will go directly to the LSF to support and expand their incredible efforts. One winner will be chosen at random. Prize includes ARFCOM Forged Rifle plus two MAGPUL thirty round PMAGs (where legal). ENTER HERE |

Can the rifle have a heavy barrel?

I can't afford much right now, but I donated $5.00 in honor of one of my guys whose demons were too much for him.:(
I hope they can help someone else to not get that far down the wrong road. |

The cutoff is January 1st I believe. I'll double check and get an official answer.
We'd be happy to make any modifications we can if you win and are in a restricted state. If we have the parts to make it legal for you to take possession, we'd be happy to do it. Depending on what you need there may be an additional charge, but we can cross that bridge when we get there. |

Update from Hughes Home Elevators:
First of all: Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who has responded to help with the Lone Survivor Foundation's Crystal Beach retreat, established to serve hundreds of disabled veterans and their families every year. As most of you know it's an amazing foundation full of people dedicated to do spectacular work for those who should be cared for first and most, those who chose to protect us before themselves. Even if this isn't the time for you, please consider them in the future for donations. To answer a few of the questions, the fundraiser will run through the end of the year. We will make an announcement of the ARFCOM rifle winner here on Monday, January 4th. All of the labor expenses for the elevator project were donated by the employees and owners of Hughes Home Elevators. So far, through the generosity of ARFCOM and you all, it's readers, around $2,500 (or about 20% of the total expenses) has been raised. That said, we did not wait to have the donations come in before installing the elevator. The entire project is finished and it turned out functionally and aesthetically beautiful! As you might imagine, because we are a very small family owned company, there is now an urgent need to cover the balance of cost associated manufacturing the elevator equipment, thus the extended push for fundraising, and we are so grateful for all of you who have participated and continue to help us get the word out. FWIW: If by some chance donations surpass that of the $12,500 goal, all funds beyond this will go directly to the LSF itself. Thank you all again! Daniel Hughes |

Thanks for the continued entries.
Just a reminder; we will close entries after this weekend & will announce the winner one week from today. Side note: We appreciate your involvement more than we can vocalize (I certainly don't wish to discourage entries in the final days of the raffle), but if in the near future you're looking for an additional avenue to help folks, please find your favorite charity who is involved in helping the people of Garland and Rowlett. We have driven through and seen the devastation first hand, and whatever you've seen on TV, it's so much worse in reality. Just so so sad. Hug your loved ones and appreciate what you have every day. |
