Who was the most bad ass mountain man?

Liver eating Johnson killed a lot of Crow after they killed his wife.

Bridger on the other hand was known for his smarts.

I'm going with liver eating Johnson.

I gotta go with the Crow Killer.  Hacked off that Indian's leg so he'd have something to eat during his escape.  That's hardcore.

Jim Bridger went East after he got caught selling guns to the natives, and was a major player in encouraging military action against the Saints in Utah.

Bridger was a lying coward thief, and was the poster-boy of inviting "the man" into others lives.

Bridger was a lying jackass double-dealing thief.

That goes under the "not fucking around" category of human behavior.

In terms of being a general badass, Liver-Eating Johnston wins by a mile. The softened, almost-factual movie they made didn't do that guy justice.

How many people have you known who hated someone so much that they killed them and ate their liver, just as a final "fuck you!"?

True, but Bridger is more important in historical terms.

Any of you guys ever read "Mountain Man"? . . I just finished it about two weeks ago. . .Understood it was the basis---very, very, very, very loosely---for "Jeremiah Johnson". . . the movie. . . book is . . . . .interesting. .

He also left Hugh Glass to die in order to save his own ass.Taking all of Glass's belonging with him  Glass literally dragged himself for miles until he got help from a camp of Sioux.  Once Glass was healed enough he tracked Bridger to mouth of the Yellow Stone to kill him. Glass spared Bridger because of his young age.  Bridger wouldn't have made a good pimple on Glass's ass

Very much looking forward to his fictionalized bio: Revenant

The script makes for a more interesting plot than the real story, but the bad-assedness is authentic.

Would also love to see a Jeremiah Johnson film done in the same modern, gritty way.
