Guess ol Gene wasn't that important after all. Parker is on his way to his best season ever without him.
I liked how Toad got all giddy after seeing the big nugget in Oregon and said lets go and then Freddy told him to slow down and test it remember guayana. Toad is a dipshit he only makes it because of those around him. |

The things in eastern Oregon that are going to make a large scale mining operation difficult: Lack of water. Lack of water. Lack of water. Fire season. |

I bet getting people, vehicles, fuel, spares etc are all much easier in Oregun. The cost of these will drop considerably in some cases but the cost of water and EPA regulations might screw them in the end. I still can not figure out why Freddy agrees to even be in the same camera shot much less in business with Toad. Can't wait until next season when Toad is bit on the ass by a rattler and is crying for Freddy to come over and suck the poison from the bite. |

Toad is always chasing the next pot of gold. Remember he was ready to jump to a new claim in the Yukon midway
through this season because Jack wanted a new claim. Freddy Dodge went with them and they came up with zero gold. They wasted time they could have been getting gold out of the ground on their claim and pissed off the crew. Now he has a number of his crew down in Oregon as the season is close to ending in the Yukon. Then there was the time wasted when he decided to leave the claim to go spend time with his son. The crew has bitched this season that Toad keeps taking off from the claim and rarely shows up to do any work. Same on Parker's claim, all the crew has been bitching all season that Parker rarely shows up on the claim except to stir shit up. Where was Parker's butt buddy new guy again this week? Looked like Parker had a hickey on his neck. Is Parker getting it on with his buddy? |

He ALWAYS believes in the ground and in his guys, ALWAYS dreams big and puts them in a position to win because they all know what it's like to lose, i.e. Guyana. Todd's done what anyone without the knowhow would do: He's gone out and got the two best dudes he knows, Dave and Freddy D., and together, they've but a pretty fucking good group of miners. Say what you want, but I like the dude. Parker NEARLY dug up 400oz. of gold in one damn cleanup. I remember watching the Pomrenkes dig up 120oz in a week and being blown away. But 400oz?! Holy shitfuck. The Viking better plug the leaks in his operation, and FAST. |

Valid points though, 120oz is a lot if operating costs are low. |

View Quote They are increasing the drama by constantly talking about tony "not being able to pay off the dredge." How many pieces of equipment pay for themselves in 1 year? Not many. Most equipment barely pays for itself before it's worn out junk. The other mines aren't hitting that metric. There were a lot of seasons they didn't even even gross enough to cover 1/10th of the equipment without even counting expenses. What matters, is cash in the bank. Tony has an operating cost that is not even 5 percent of what the other miners have. Will he make money with his mediocre season so far? Hard to tell but probably. It's not nearly the failure that the tv show it talking it up to be. The show doesn't talk about that because the average american can't grasp it. All they understand is "zomg todd made 2 million monies!" despite losing money after expenses if the show didn't cover part of it and "zomg tony failed" because his return on capital wasn't 100%. Also, they keep saying the dredge was bought for 1 million dollars. I'm fairly skeptical of that number being true. By fairly skeptical I mean it's outright bullshit. An old broken down dredge in the middle of nowhere that has to be moved? In a state where scrap metal really isn't even worth anything because of the logistics? Think about that. Ask yourself if that dredge had 1 million dollars worth of value sitting the wild somewhere. I seriously doubt it. If you look at this show from an objective pov, you'll realize that a lot of the story is just filler. I still enjoy watching it but some of it is asinine. |

Todd is from Oregon. I don't think Oregon will allow him to mine they same way they do in Canada or even AK. I don't remember the details, but OR was getting real bad about people using small mining equipment.

Big piles of gold.
Why the fuck didn't they just drain the damn cut and dry-dock the dredge right where it sat? It's a plowed cut, it's already level. Juan is fucking TIER Juan for having pulled that turbo off his own truck just to get their plant up and running. Tier Juan. Tony might be a legend but Grandpa John is still the king. |
