Something you guys may not have thought about is that the military also used a lot of K-Frame .38's.

It's attached to the military budget. It could actually pass. View Quote I can only think of two ways it would pass: 1) its attached to a bill authorising a 3rd term... So that's not happening 2) its attached to a bill taking away all gun rights No way he'll sign a pro gun bill... Or anything else its attached to. |

The Senate voted 73-26 to end debate on the bill and thwart a filibuster on Tuesday, with 21 Democrats breaking ranks to join the Republican majority. The Hill reports the lone Republican "nay” came from Senator Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) of Kentucky, while Senator Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) of Florida missed the vote. Both of these Senators are currently running for President. Shows to go you Rand Paul and Marco Rubio don't really give a shit about your 2nd rights. I'd be surprised to see Rand Paul vote "yay" on ANY budget right now. Especially when cutting costs in the government is integral to his platform. |

And I've never seen one, but the Ordnance manual also talks about the p239 (I'm assuming CGIS agents have those). I don't even know if our guns would be CMP eligible since we fall under DHS. |

He may have to sign. To Veto Military spending over this would be bad optics. But we will see.

Hell I was in a couple NYARNG units. Our 1911's were in pretty good shape. They were all refurbed at least once and had more than 80% finish remaining, most had more like 95%. The armor unit I was in had really good ones. The MP unit I was in they were some more tired ones in the mix. We had a couple 1911's with replacement slides and parts in the mix. Wouldn't mind one of each, one 1911 and one 1911A1 Pretty much zero chance of getting a 1911 un refurbed, 1. it'd go to auction and 2. think hen's teeth.

It's not a gun bill...
It's a defense budget. View Quote It's actually the annual Defense Authorization Act for 2016 that's usually signed in October. The ( Budget)appropriations bill comes later. |

It would be nice if some 1911s get released to the CMP. But in the wake of all this "we have to something for gun control" that's still being pushed, I'm not exactly optimistic that the bill will be singed with the 1911 provision still attached.

I don't need another 1911 but if this passes I will pick one up!

CMP should have kept their pie hole shut. Should have left it to his people to catch it.

The "flippers" are lined up and ready to clean the CMP out if this passes......just like with all the decent Garands , 03's, and Kimber 82's...... CMP needs to limit sales to "1 per person per year"...... View Quote I'm sure past the experience will lead them to put some limit specially at first. |

So, let's say, just for the sake of argument, this bill passes. Will the CMP send out an email announcing the sale or will we have to keep an eye on the site? When they announced the last sale of International Harvester (was that right) I didn't get a notice, even though I am a CMP member. I stumbled on it after the order deadline passed. I know I'm asking for a guess.... View Quote It'll be a while. They'll have to coordinate with the Army for the pistols and get the transferred, then inspect & grade them. I'm guessing it'll be at least another year till we see them. |
