You can find the irrefutable evidence here

That’s because the start time of the game holds particular significance to Cubs fans. The official first pitch time is slated for 7:08 p.m. Central time, which in military time is 19:08. 1908, of course, is the last year in which the Cubs won the World Series.

The numerical coincidences don’t stop there, however. The date of the game itself is also noteworthy, as it will be contested on October 7, or 10/7. 107 years, naturally, is the number of years it’s been since the Cubs have won a World Series title.

No,  don't buy into that stuff.

They do have a great young team, though.  And baseball, unlike the nba, is one of those sports where once you make the playoffs you have a legit shot.  Especially since the team that had he best regular season lost their best player.

And calling him their best player is an understatement, as he contributes to every aspect of the game, and was even their most important player when hey had Pujols in his prime.

Self-fulfilling prophecy.  Some number cruncher suggested those dates and times.  They can't prevent the suck.

Now the reference from Back to the Future II is another matter entirely.

Vice versa for me.  I respect the Cardinals and love that they're a rival we can actually contend with as of late

I heard the goat had a choice, volunteer for sacrifice or a deployment to Afghanistan.  Good choice.

I'd like to see that.

I was a huge Cubs fan when I was a kid.

This is the exact moment that I stopped following the Cubs, and pretty much, baseball altogether.

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f/f8/Foul_ball_alou.jpg

After they blew that game, I was done with them.   I don't think I've watched a full game since, other than going to an occasional game at Great American Ballpark.

I watched a good documentary on that a few months ago. I can't remember if it was 30 For 30 or whatever, but it was pretty good.
