Why is it so damn hard to find a performance jacket with elastic at the cuffs? It seems all the tier1 gear is following the straight sleeve trend.
Goretex parka with zip in polartec liner with elastic cuffs is all I want. |

Goretex parka with zip in polartec liner with elastic cuffs is all I want. View Quote Straight cuffs and velcro shut cuffs don't lose their air sealing capability like elastic does with time. Elastic loosens. Personally, where possible, I prefer to pull the cuff of my jacket over my gloves then close it up over the gloves. Seems to be the best way to keep the elements out. In the past, Lands End was making a goretex zip up parka with a zip in fleece liner. It has elastic cuffs with velcro cinching as well. No idea if they still make it, but worth a look. ETA: Can't find it on Lands End website. LL Bean has something like what you are looking for - no elastic cuffs though and down liner instead. They also have one with a fleece liner, but it isn't GoreTex. Maine Warden's Coat from LL Bean |

My Carhart is so tattered I light it on fire at least a couple times a year ice fishing when I reach over my heater to get a minnow.

From Nov to March I have a closet full of assorted hoodies ranging from gun vendors to race car part vendors. If it's really cold I throw on a hooded black Carhart. Some SOB stole the one I had for 10 years so I get to break in a new one this year.

I agree, as long as down doesn't get wet, it is the bees knees. |

Repurposed LE Tri-climate jacket, made by VF Imagewear, which owns the "The North Face" brand.
Basically, it's a TNF jacket without the brand logo on the outside. Closest match is the "Holgate" Tri-Climate Jacket. https://www.thenorthface.com/shop/mens-jackets-vests-3-in-1-jackets/mens-holgate-triclimate-jacket-cup2?variationId=65J |

Because it compacts/compresses down to nothing, it's lightweight, built-in hood, CoreLoft is warm as fuck, has nearly ZERO bulk, trim/athletic fit, and looks great. ETA: And look at the reviews it's gotten. It's a VERY popular piece. |

IDK, gotta remember you might be dealing with "Southern Ice"!
I have a old 50's vintage Pacific trail mackinaw shooting jacket I like to wear a lot. It's fun being 30, in college, wearing that, smoking my pipe daring people to call me a hipster. So far though I've only been called the most Washington looking person they've ever seen. If I want to feel uber turbo HSLD I throw on my Pantac prototype shell jacket. I don't know how the finished jackets turned out, the prototype had some easy to correct issues though. But the thing is like putting on an action adventure costume. I feel like damn Instructor Zero and start talking all operator and shit. I can't hate though, because chicks definitely dig it. Super cold I have an old arctic air force parka that was given to me by a neighbor who used to work up there and guide on Everest, so it's got some cool miles on it, which sucks because I started getting too big for it. The most solid, long serving, been every clime and place jacket I have though is the woodland ECWS parka someone scrounged for me when my issue shitty gore-tex got stolen. I made sure to turn in a ratty ass surplus shop buy to CIF, and kept the ECWS. I've put it through 4 years in the Marines, 5 years offshore diving, a year in E Wa living at a missile silo, and every other crazy wild thing I've done. The two things that go with me anywhere are my gore-tex and Ka-Bar. |
