Apparently, living in Russia fucking SUCKS!

Snowden told the BBC
that he'd "volunteered to go to prison with the government many times,"
but had not received a formal plea-deal offer.

He
said that "so far they've said they won't torture me, which is a start,
I think. But we haven't gotten much further than that."

Agreed, but he also leaked stuff about us spying on foreigners and foreign countries, which is a shitty thing to do, and he probably should be executed for it. Shake his hand, give him a medal, then execute him, I suppose.

Obama should be welcoming him home with open arms for making the transparency he showed in our governments actions.

Instead, Obama has open arms for terrorist sympathizers and their families.

We (the public) have absolutely no fuckin' idea what else he passed on to the Russians or anyone else -  or what he will eventually leak.

At this point, if you've already passed judgement on him, you are a fool.

We know that he released information to the media about our intelligence operations in foreign countries, information that had nothing to do with domestic spying. Unless you're proposing that he somehow kept that publicly released information out of the hands of the Russians, it's possible to say with 100 percent certainty that he passed info on our legitimate spy operations to them, and therefore possible to judge him without being foolish.

Well, since that's where Mr human rights and governmental spying exposer went, you'd think maybe he thought they were better than us.  I wonder if he's learned first hand exactly how NOT FUCKING TRUE that is...

It might be interesting in about a decade or so to find out exactly what happened to him in Russia.  I doubt he's having all that great of a time there.

I have to disagree.  He obtained his information by manipulating other people out of their user names and passwords, then accessing everything they had authorization and need to know for.  Then he downloaded everything he could and stole it.  He illegally  compromised over 30 accounts to obtain the massive amount of information he stole.

His actions are those of a foreign collector or someone who wants to steal the data for personal gain.

I would feel differently if he was read on to a program, had ethical issues with the program, reported it through the approved FWAC channels and when nothing was done, went public with some information regarding a specific illegal activity of the .gov.  That's not what he did.

That tends to happen when the government keeps everything secret. Which is kind of the whole problem here.

What we DO know is that our own government secretly engaged in systematic, suspicionless, mass surveillance of US. We KNOW they are fucking dirtbags of the highest order. Snowden is at worst an unknown.

All of which is utterly dwarfed by the massive and almost unfathomably repugnant actions of the government, that he exposed.

Why did he turn over his four hard drives to the Russians?

Only to gain asylum?

Or to give them classified information also?

He didn't change shit. The only thing he accomplished was giving the Russkies a shitload of information on US intelligence.

People who don't like Snowden keep saying this, and yet I have not seen a single credible source for this claim.

Unless you're just talking about the general stuff that he gave to EVERYONE by handing it over to the media. But that's not the same thing as "giving it to the Russkies."

We have no idea what he did or did not turn over.  However, there's only one way they grant him asylum, and that's if he talks.  So he can claim he didn't tell them anything all day long, nobody fucking believes him.  Traitors don't have any credibility anywhere with anyone except the willfully ignorant.
