I just installed it earlier this morning. So far I'm not at all impressed. Windows 7 was running faster for me.

Huge improvement over 8.1 for me.  I still like 7 (and XP even more).

Unless you're computer is borderline crappy, it should run better than windows 7.

All that bundled spyware takes a toll on lower end computers however.

Like it.  Running it on a new build and it's awesome.  Upgraded a Win8.1 laptop and a Win7 box.  Laptop runs great but the Win7 box had some driver issues with the NIC that took a little tweaking.

I like Windows 7 better.  There are some neat features in Win10 and I'll ultimately have to get used to it because they are dead set on going in this direction.

Seems ok. I'm not really sold on it, but I'm not displeased. I'll be sticking with it unless there's something truly awful that's compelling enough to get me to go back to Win 7.

It's faster, but some of the settings menus and such are kind of a pain to get to. I guess you can get to them the old way if you know a few shortcuts, so that's good I guess.

Overall - I'm neither satisfied nor dissatisfied. Full disclosure: I haven't done any heavy lifting with it yet, like development. I still need to reinstall Visual Studio etc. But for browsing and gaming, it's fine.

Pretty sure it's some sort of issue with my machine. Edge is orders of magnitude slower to open webpages than Chrome or IE. I don't hold it against the OS since my install was a tech preview upgrade from 8.1, I haven't heard of similar issues elsewhere, and I probably wouldn't be using it anyway.

Common problem after the update. You need to change the memory pages to custom.

Just google win 10 lag and memory issues for more info

Btw op win 10 is buggy and crashes alot with games

Free version doesn't let you access some of the features to turn them off like Cortana... I haven't tried the privacy apps though..

I did go into safe mode to change the Cortana directory though, that killed it on my desktop...

Overall, it's okay and will extend the life on my computer but overall...I don't really see any difference amongst operating systems. I know 10 is mining data and its layout is completely different from everything in the past but all I do is surf the net on my computer.

That's what I keep telling people that ask me about it.  It doesn't matter if it's good, bad, or whatever.  You're going to use it anyway because that's what Microsoft has decided you're going to use.

Like it a lot.
IMO, W10 is the best Windows OS yet!

I even deleted the roll back files.

I still have W7 on one of my older computers that won't run W10, after running W10 since its release I have no use for W7 anymore.

I liked W8.1 more than W7, but W10 is the best.

Eh I prefer 8.1  A student came in the other day with this problem after installing Windows 10.

Her user profile was corrupted so we made her a new one and moved everything over.  A band-aid until it gets an 'official' fix from Microsoft.  Right now problems are pointing to a conflict with Avast, but she doesn't have that.

As a heart attack. Note: Most of what makes it awesome are under the hood improvements, and arfcommers who aren't in IT never discuss them (or care) in threads like this.

I'm honestly not interested in discussing operating systems superficially. There are probably 10 or fewer people on this site who's educated opinion on operating systems are worth listening to, and they almost never post in these threads.

It's their best and most intrusive OS to date.  I particularly am impressed with the built-in keylogger.  They make Facebook look downright respectful of privacy in comparison.  You can turn off some of the intrusion, but you have to be aggressive about it.  It's hidden under settings, but there's like 40 things you should go turn off.

I upgraded two of my four machines, and the upgrade was painless - and it's been very stable.

My only real beef is that I found out three of my clients have not certified their VPN and security software on Win 10, so they've programmed it not to run on Win 10.  I can't do any work for them on those machines, which was very unexpected.

What VPN client are you using? That's something that should/could be handled by policy on the server/concentrator/terminator/router/firewall/what-the-fuck-ever.

If you're doing it manually on the client PC, you're working too hard.
