I am all for classic cars. They have a look and raw feel that isn't around today. The reason cars don't feel that way anymore is because new cars are better in every way. This ZL1 is a better car than the original and nostalgia can fuck up reasonable thinking.

We rolled our own;
Wife's 2010 2ss East Coast Supercharger Kooks, head to tail PCM tune Right at 650 hp About 42k in it, plenty left to do. I was less aroused by the styling than the wife was, in 2010. But now, IDGAF what it looks like - if an 87 dodge caravan was this quick and this much fun, it would still be beautiful. So no ZL1 here, but close enough to say try one, you'll like it. (Unless you're a fucking sissy - then I can't say for sure) |

Couldn't afford the ZL1 but I just bought a 2014 2SS/RS 6 speed manual with 2700 miles and damn near every option.
Loving this car. After 25 years of Wranglers and SUV's the 426 hp is plenty enough to scare the balls off me. |

View Quote Yes, I once owned a 1969 Z/28 Camaro plus a few other classics - just traded a frame-off restored '69 El Camino SS/396 towards a 2016 Z06 (1LZ with eight-speed paddle-shift auto as the only option). Today's vehicles are much nicer in every way. Old ones are nostalgic, but that's about it. Lot's of guys like the oldies - great for them, just not my cup of tea anymore. New ZL1's are nice - 580HP/556TQ super-charged 6.2L engine - what's to hate. Dealer has a black/black/black (body/interior/wheels) one in stock that is very nice - $60 MSRP - wants about $56K - optioned out pretty well - link. |

PCM of NC tuned the car on the dyno at their shop in Race City USA, they are serious 21st century hot-rodders. There's easily another 50hp on the tune, but we're lock stock tranny back and I let everyone and their brother drive it - so better safe than sorry for now |

Not to mention HP was rated differently back then, that "425hp" emblem on a muscle car would probably be no more than 250whp by todays HP standards lol.
My old modded yamaha SHO back in the day would hang with almost all those muscle cars and get 20+mpg around town. I got my first car in the mid 90's and it was a 68 camaro with a 350, quadrajet carb, intake, headers, M21 and a 12 bolt rear end and I could barely hang with my friends completely stock 240hp IROCZ camaro. I love old cars and respect them for what they are but I love to DRIVE not look at my cars/treat them as investment pieces so its hard to ignore the advantages that newer cars bring. |
