Stumps + pick axe = destroyed upper body

Holy shit. I wish I had a Home Depot nearby. I would have picked up some "helpers".

I see Advil and cold beer in my future.

Anybody want to come by and try out my gym?  I'll let you workout free of charge.

Got some I can use?

Do you think anyone will be pissed that I'm using it 20 yards from the road?

I have been renting the little toro dingo based one on tracks. That thing is playing way out of its weight class. Almost makes me want to sell my 252 and buy one.

I hacked out a bunch of roots with one a few months ago. Whatever those plants I destroyed were I was highly allergic to them. If you even suspect that might happen to you do not fap in the shower until you know it is safe. Felt like I'd fucked poison ivy.

Another is my being in the middle of building a 10'x 21' riding mower, golf cart, Teryx SxS shed.  Between the post hole diggers, hoisting 2x6x12 up, many, many trips up a step ladder--- it is about too much for my 71 yo junky butt. Got more time than money though, and I do a great job. I will have step-son come help me put the 26 gauge metal roofing on.

Obviously you've never had to spontaneously dig a man sized grave, six feet deep, through rocky clay, in the middle of the night.

You'll especially feel the burn as you struggle to beat the sunrise.

Sorry,  we used all we had except for a couple or three sticks that sat in the old chicken coop for twenty years.  It was looking pretty weepy by then, so my father arranged with county sheriff to get rid of it.  You ought to be able to pick some up at the hardware store.  That's where we got ours.

The road could be a problem.  We just used fuse and caps, but electric detonators might be a better option for you, so you can blow it when no cars are nearby.  It's not as dramatic as you might think.  You use a long hand auger to make a hole under stump for your charge.  You're  not really trying to blow the stump clear of the ground - at least, we weren't - just clear the dirt from around the roots three or four feet down so you can get at them with an axe.

You know this by now but you're doing it wrong.

Find the old guy with a stump grinder who'll come out and grind a couple of them below grade for $50.

You can still have the beer and advil though.

A little hard for us mere peasants to get our hands on.  Our would-be masters in Washington frown on our shenanigans.

Tannerite, however (and lots and lots of it ) IS readily available...  Say if you were to get about 10 one-pound containers, stack them end-to-end in your auger hole, so the last one was visible to your rifle... Just sayin'.  You could even set it off preslicely when you want to, when no cars are passing by.

I have another good one for you:  Thatch rake.

It seemed like a good idea.  About 30 minutes in, I knew I was going to hurt the next day.  I did.

Honestly I'd thought about renting a backhoe or a bobcat, but the damn prices seem awfully high.  I figured my time and pain was cheaper.

My neighboor once gave me $400 to break  up his 10x10 cement front steps. I would have done it for beer, dinner, and flirting time with his college age daughter.

Took all day with a sledge.

Woke up the next day and hauled 400 lobster traps

Rented one last year...had one hour on the hour meter.  I had used them before at work but never at home.  Fun as hell and very productive.
