Are you allowed to carry an accessible rifle in a car in your state? I'd look into that first, unless you already know what the law says.

Take a look at Ebay for used squad car mounts. Santa Cruz is the name that comes to mind, aND maybe Big Sky racks. Cheap and generally easy to fab a mount for them, just make sure you get the keys; lots of sellers won' t send them out with the leftover police keys.

Big Sky Inc. is whom you seek. I have had the BSR in 2 different Duramax's and the SBR in a 2015 Tacoma and their Sport Rack in a Yamaha Rhino. I have been a customer for at least 10 years.
If the roof of your truck is double walled or skinned then the BSR is the way to go as the mounting screws just pierce the first wall. If you have a single wall roof like a Tacoma than the SBR is a fantastic route. Good service and I think they are the most durable racks. You will be amazed how many people will not even notice them that get in the truck. And, they are almost impossible to see from a pedestrian viewpoint. Roof Racks |

I don't remember the brand name, but I got it in the Bass Pro Shop bargain cave. It was something like "Grizzly" or "Kodiak" or "Sasquatch" or something.

The truck just has vinyl floors but I did cut out the vinyl, glue down the edges of the vinyl and bolt the rack directly to the floor. I then covered up the bolts and closed the seams in the vinyl with some bedliner type stuff. The top wiggled around on rough terrain, which is pretty much the only thing the truck sees really. Pavement was ok, however I welded in a support brace and it's pretty solid now. |

A'yup...that is one of the reasons I have been eyeballing Sig M400 pistols in .300 Blackout. Since Illinois is only a shotgun slug for deer state, the fish cops really frown upon you carrying an easily accessible rifle in your vehicle. |

There was a old Santa Cruz double gun rack that you bolted to the floor between the seat on a Jeep. I remember the top part was adjustable because I had to lower it so a Ruger Deerslayer Carbine could fit in it.
Looks like Santa Cruz has all kinds of modern adjustable racks to fit most any need. Google image is you friend. |

Actually I found his build thread from that Tacoma world link that RINO_hunter posted.
Gun rack is about two thirds of the way down. |

I bought a ton of car mounts for AR15s a few years ago. I've been slowly selling them on ebay. They work good, but they kinda a pain in the ass to mount in a car or truck with out a cage. I had my heart set on using one in my F150, but had to give the idea up. I ended up going with an under seat lock box that the gun rest in. I'm going to custom cut some foam to sit in in while it's in the box. It's a tuffy box if anyone is interested.

I don't have any pictures but I've got a shotgun behind the seat of my double cab tundra. Ran a gun lock through the trigger guard and made a tie down. It's not the fastest thing to get to but I keep the key for the gun lock on my key ring and can get to it relatively easily. It's also not the most secure but I think it'd stop someone trying to get in and out quick.
