GD...where small government advocates promote a tyrannical space empire. I'm just a simple moisture farmer. The Empire was less tyrannical than the United States. Han Solo walked around on Imperial worlds open carrying without giving it the slightest thought, to the point it was part of his style. He flew around on his privately owned ship equipped with two plainly visible quad-barreled automatic AA cannons, defensive countermeasures, sensor jamming equipment, an autonomous anti-personnel machine gun, and probably torpedo launchers... And no one gave him shit for it. He was confident flying this ship all around the Empire without fear of arrest or trouble. A modern US citizen is not as free as Han Solo was under the Empire. You could do it under the Old Republic as well. Got an example of a non-Jedi/non-Government person open carrying on a Republic world? |

He escapes the sarlacc Marysu Fett. Keep in mind when discussing him that Vader had to address him specifically because he's "that guy". https://fanfix.files.wordpress.com/2013/04/no-disintegrations.jpg In that group of bounty hunters, Vader didn't stop in front of Bossk or IG-88, point at them, call them out in front of their comrades, and say "Don't fuck this up." He did that with Fett. Right in front of his coworkers, Vader basically said "you can't follow directions, you're unreliable and so shitty at your job that I'll make this perfectly clear so even a dumbfuck like you can understand - and I'll say it where maybe the shame of being told you're an idiot in front of your peers will actually make that sink in, you ewokfucking dianogaturd." Vader knew the guy was at best marginally competent to begin with, and just dragged him in because he really needed his targets found. This would be like Vader talking to a group of dogwalkers and saying "I would like him walked around the block. Fett, don't tie him to your bumper." Vader pointing bis finger at Fett and saying "no disintegrations" will never be looked at the same way again. That's for sure. |

Free to leave the Order? They fucking kidnap kids and brainwash them in their Space Madrasa! As for the blowing shit up... The Empire was the only government smart enough to prepare for the Yuuzhan Vong. That is why hey forged links with the Chiss and promoted Thrawn to Grand Admiral. The Empire fought an early invasion force and learned of the threat that was coming. Hence the build up over the years and the research into Galactic WMDs. The Death Star, Sun Crusher, World Devastator, Super Class, and Eclipse Class Star Destroyers. The Yuuzhan Vong was the greatest threat to the Galaxy.... the Empire made sure that threat wouldn't happen. The Religious Zealots that are the Jedi and the Rebel Alliance / New Republic fucked it all up and allowed the Vong to kill trillions of lives across the galaxy. Nom Anor and other spies like him influenced events in the galaxy to make it favorable for the Vong invasion. One of those was supporting the Rebel Alliance. Nonsense, the Empire is pure evil. The others had their flaws but they were not evil. The republic never destroyed a entire planet for a weapons demo. Many Jedi left the Order, Dooku is just one example, besides most people where honored that their children would be Jedi. So you find out a very dangerous group is going to invade your area, your first step is to tell no one, and create a civil war diminishing any fighting chance you have. Oh and then you send a huge ship with a few Jedi and a bunch of civilians to let that group know you exist. You then rule what is left over with an Iron First (Darth Vader), enslave cultures to build weapons of war which can lead to only 1 conclusion, a resistance movement. Seems like it would have been a lot easier just to come forward with the info and get business done. I think i missed that book |

Best argument i have read to far, unless you were on the Empire's "List". However, he could do the same thing under the Republic. |

Pretty sure he wasn't doing it legally on Coruscant, and was relying on his ninja skills to avoid getting caught. The rest of the time he was operating as an agent of the dominant government, and was probably exempt from the laws on such matters. Solo just didn't give a fuck, and no one cared. |
