Here's the full story if you can translate it. Both occupants survived and were able to get out of the wreck before it caught fire. Passenger had some serious injuries from what I understand.

The road footage they aren't going very fast. The dash footage may show 300 kph but that is easy to shop.
A 200 mph crash through a barrier isn't going to have anyone walking away. That wreckage looks like a 200 mph crash. But no one walked away from that. |

That video really makes me miss driving on the autobahn.
If you see a white cloud of smoke shoot straight up, hundreds of feet into to the air in an instant, you know someone up ahead just put on their brakes hard and it's time to slow down. It was usually caused by eastern european truck drivers that would get into the left lane to pass even slower trucks on tiny little hills. It looked like that guy waited too long to brake when the left lane became clogged and that he was going to crash into them, but the video cuts out and starts again later. He probably braked so hard the cameraman accidentally clicked the off switch. I'd pull over and clean the windshield long before letting it get as dirty as he did. You need an extra clear view of the road at those speeds. |

I wonder how he kept the camera/phone in his hands after a wreck like that? He must have had a death grip on it for it to not tumble out of his hand and land somewhere in the cabin area and get burned up...

OK - geeze, that took like 5 min to confirm the story.
FACT - wasn't the Autobahn, it was highway M7 in Hungary. FACT - the driver ping pong across the highway, hitting the left guard rail before crossing the lanes and hitting the right, before flipping into the ditch. Hitting those rails I am sure slowed them down significantly. FACT - both people DID live, with the driver pulling the passenger out before the car caught fire. FACT - Police looking into charging the driver for dangerous driving. You can go to the ACTUAL Hungarian police site and read about it.
