Fuck it. I'm making this a thread about coleslaw haters, now.
This is not a list, this is simply a reference point to confirm if someone hates coleslaw. |

Coleslap was invented merely as a way to show everyone how much they should appreciate the other food on their plate. If you serve it to me, I will immediately question myself as to what I may have done to you to have you treat me that way. |

I think I'll try this. Thanks for the recipe.. SigChef made this at CWW and it was hands down the best cole slaw I've ever tried: CWW Cole Slaw- 2 jalapenos 1 cup mayo 1 lime, juice and zest 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon sugar. 1/2 head green cabbage 1/4 head purple cabbage. 1 carrot. Coat the jalapenos with olive oil and thoroughly char under a broiler or on a grill and set aside,. Set up a food processor or blender, add the mayo, zest, juice, sugar and salt. Remove the stem from the cooled jalapenos, split them and remove the seeds, remembering to keep the charred skin on. Add the prepared jalapenos to the mayo and process until smooth. Check seasoning. Peel the carrot and then julienne or grate it. Core both colors of cabbage, using a mandolin, meat slicer or knife slice as thinly as possible. In a large mixing bowl combine the cabbage and carrots. Toss the cabbage and carrots with enough jalapeno dressing to thoroughly coat. Set covered in the fridge for a few hours to allow the acid in the dressing to start to break down the cabbage. ETA: This is from the thread in question. All hail SigChef |

Cole slaw on a BBQ pulled pork sandwich is a game changer. Now go lite the torches and grab your pitchforks, I'll be easy to find, no need to break a sweat. View Quote We used to do slaw on pulled pork. We didn't have slaw one cookout so just used some shredded cabbage and some Carolina style bbq sauce. We like it better. Doesn't cover up the delicate flavor of the pork. Both ways are good. My wife makes awesome slaw. We prefer the much coarser chop to the standard shredded style. Hers is hot, sweet, and a little sour with the background flavor of caraway seeds and a little fennel, iirc. Damn it's good. I don't see how someone could dislike slaw unless all they've had is the nasty, minced, soaked in dressing style you get at KFC. I'm gonna give the OP's requested recipe a go. Sounds good. ETA: I think the haters should chime in and answer whether or not they've had real/home made slaw or just the nastiness I described above. ETA 2 Wife says it's celery seed, no fennel or caraway. Does have dill, horse radish and a little garlic. I can post the whole recipe if anyone is interested. |

There's 2 kinds of slaw and I like them both!
One is more sugar/mayo and it goes with fish/shrimp/etc. The other is more mustard and vinegar - it goes on Eastern NC Pork BBQ. Slaw Lovers Unite!!! Both types are acceptable for female "slaw wrastlin'" |

I love it but it's really vinegary (at least the ones I've had are). Not a great fit for breakfast, imho. As an aside, I'm pretty sure that a family favorite is an evolution of German potato salad. I've got some German in my ancestry. Our hot potato salad consists of cubed taters, bacon, velveta, miracle whip with green olives and bacon crumbled on top. I'm sure it sounds nasty to many but every pot luck I've ever taken it to, I come home with an empty dish. |
