We have black male POS cat running around the property. I jokingly started calling it Obama.
Fast forward 2 years. I'm 8 hours away fishing and my wife sends me a photo of a female black lab she just bought. I get home a few days later to find out she named it Michelle. Fuck. Good news is she's a great dog and an a hell of a hunter. I refuse to call her Michelle, I nicknamed her Muh. |

View Quote My uncle did that back in the early 80s. Wonderful black lab named Spook. Lasted almost 14 years. Was never a problem except for the one time he took off down the street when visiting friends one night in a "rough" part of town... Had no choice but to call him back, hollering real loud. IIRC he won the pup at a DU banquet. |

My FIL had a black lab named Nigger. This would have been around 1948 in N. Idaho. He of course is not racist himself, but his old man was. Needless to say, the first time I heard him tell us this I about broke my jaw when it hit the floor.

On one of my lab forums someone showed off their new black lab puppy they named Sambo. They honestly had no idea about the racial overtones.

Wanted to name him Obama, because he's mostly black with a white underbelly, he's dumb as a box of rocks, eats his own shit and it gives me pleasure to kick him in the butt when he's asking for handouts.
